Virtual Energy help?
« on: August 04, 2009, 07:58:43 AM »
looking for a suggestions.

I have my VE drilled w/pin under the ring finger (right handed) my pap is like 4" and up 7/8. the pin to pap i'm unsure of.

if i was to take the cover to 4000 would it push the reaction farther down the lane. It seems mine is hooking about mid lane unless im in the soup and should be throwing the VG.

My VG is drilled long strong and when i had the VE drilled i thought if drilled the same as the VG it would be too long.

this ball is the only ball i have that is pin under (outside the rising that is).
to get the later reaction that im use to what would be a good drilling. my revs are (guessing) 200 to 350 range. speed 15 to 19 , i have low tilt, axis is around 45deg.

If i need to plug & redrill i guess i will do that (not fond of it but) will do to get the reaction im looking for.

Thanks for any help
Brian

oob cover for the VE is 1500 polished.  As far as I know Storm uses US grit ratings, so 4000 Abralon (2000 US) wouldn't be much change, but it won't hurt to try it.  Before redrilling I would try a couple of applications of Bean's Secret Sauce, burned in on a spinner.  I've found it to produce a longer reaction than other polishes I've used.  If that doesn't work, try one with a slip agent such as Delayed Reaction.  --  JohnP

would the step 3 polish help to delay the break point?..  it is 1500/2500 for grit.

first off do you have a x hole in it. second i agree alter the cover before you decide to redrill it take it down then back up and polish it on top of that

I agree on both accounts.  For the X-hole, depending on where you have it can make it roll sooner.  I have a Power Machine with an X-hole 1.5" above my PAP to make it push longer.  You have to be careful with this as I've heard that the ball can roll over the hole(PM JustRico on that).

Definitely alter the surface(a few times if you have to) before a plug. Taking the ball up to 4000/polish will give it added length.  However, keep in mind that it will store more energy and give it a bit of a more angular backend.  But, still a cheaper and less time consuming change than a redrill.
