This really goes against the grain... correct?

I read the following in another post:

quote:
Basic "label" drilling's generaly make the ball check-up faster and are best suited for earliest possible reaction for heavy oiled lanes. "Leverage" simply means swinging the C.G. more than 1 inch away from the center of the grip and fooling the ball into thinking the lane is flooded by laying the weight block over so to make the ball retain as much of it's energy as possible for the break-point.

This says that the Label drilling (kind of like 1:30) makes the ball hook early and is thne best drill for Heavier Oil lanes??? What...???

I thought Label Leverage 1:30 drilling's were best for getting length through the heads when the head oil starts to go away and that this drill was best for Medium to Medium/Dry Oil.

Label drillings would make the ball push too far down the lane and possibly push through the breakpoint on Heavier Oil... right???

Who's right?

Ric,

Whenever the pin is at leverage, 3 3/8" from the bowler's PAP, you are going to get a lot of flare and a strong reaction.

Positioning of the CG (& MB) is a 2nd-ary effect (vastly reduced) compared to the pin's position. Placing the CG at 105 degrees (usually that is label or center of the grip, BUT NOT ALWAYS!) will make the ball arc later, than if you place the CG at leverage (MB near the thumb) or kick it closer towards the PAP  (or the MB towards the VAL).

Label drillings can be for heavy oil;; it depends on the bowler and the ball and what he/she wants the ball to what and when.

A drilling is not for medium or dry lanes; a ball is for medium or dry.

Jason G - You may like it, but your signature makes me scroll the entire page to read a post.  If I have to work for it, I don't look at it.

Thanks for changing it Jason!
