Ive had som pain in my ring finger right at the bottom of it. It was my span that was to short. Make your pro shop check your span.

It is probably stresses to your hand sinews. I had something similar last year and did not take it seriously... If the pains come quickly, after just one gama, and if you have pain in your hand when you do certain movements or try to lift some weight with your hand, then be careful.

Either consult a doctor (I ended up in a tomograph!) and/or take a total rest from bowling for some time, at least 2 weeks. 4 is even better. Wearing a supporting wrist brace helps, too. The hand will need some time to recover, so take it easy.

I do not think that it is a span or pitch problem - when you never had problems like this before with your balls, then I'd rather "blame" it on over-exertion.

I had pain all the way through my forearm.  I drilled everything semi-fingertip with my span pretty stretched and 1/8" forward on my ring finger. I even tucked my pinky as I bowled which put even more strain on it. Since then I dropped to 15#, shortened my span 3/16", and went to 1/8" reverse on both fingers.  I haven't had any pain since the changes and have even been able to move back up to 16#.  I hope this helps.
