layout to get a older urethane reaction

I love my karma urethane, but I'm having a really hard time finding another newer urethane ball or even an old urethane ball in good shape. I was wondering if anybody had an idea what kind of layout would work on something weaker like a strike king or slingshot to make it roll like an older urethane ball?

Personally, when I want something like that, I'll go pin 1.5 inches from pap with the cg moved enough to put a medium hole in it. Allowed me to go much straighter and greatly reduce the sharp move of the dry. IF you had to choose between those two, I would go with the Strike King. Are you set on just Brunswick?

visionary still makes their ogre urethane.

It's shell is harder than any other company urethane today.  It's almost as hard as the old pink hammer.  Their ogre core is still stronger than the pink hammer cores of the 90s, but if you drill it weak, you could get what you are after.

Visionary is no longer producing the Ogre Urethane.  It is on their discontinued list.  If you use 16# or 13#, you may still be able to get one.

I agree with Impending Doom. I just drilled a Strike King for one of our seniors who has a tough time with balls finishing too strong for his speed.

I put the pin 2" from his PAP (below fingers) and knocked some gloss off and the ball is very predictable.

It hits better than a urethane, in my opinion.  It just smoothed out the late reaction.

My apologies.  Didn't realize Visionary discontinued theirs.

I wish Hammer would re-issue the pink hammer.

They just made 330 special vibes.

I'm betting they could sell 300 pink hammers if they made them.  I know I'd take 2.

+1. Shorter pin to pap will help the ball bleed energy in the fronts and smooth the overall reaction. I drilled my new Roto Grip Shout this way and love it when the Pattern get stupid as far as dry. I also drilled a Radical Torrid Affair with the Pin on the PAP and P2 hole for a customer with a higher rev rate and slower speed. I'm hoping it rolls great for her.

Short pin to pap as mentioned along with sanding the surface down to tame the backend snap.

IMO, pin on axis doesn't flare enough. I used to use this on particles and watched the surface a lot due to the decreased flare. I had a Money drilled 1x4 and no matter how far I threw it into the dry, it never jumped. I loved that ball.

I have all three ball mentioned above.  All drilled the same.  The Strike King is more length and backend than the Karma.  The Slingshot is close, but I think it hooks more and does not hit the pins as hard as the Karma.  There may be still some Karma Urethanes out there. How heavy do you use? I know where there may be some.

I just picked up a Shout for cheap, $59 bucks. Going to put a 2 inch pin to pap drill on it for thrid game in a wood house when the lanes are bad dry.

What specs should I ask for to use this drillin?

Depends on your pap. If you do not want a weight hole you need a little longer pin to pap to get the cg closer to your grip line.

You will also need to adjust the surface. I use 2-2.5" pin to paps for a sooner read. They still hook like resin.
