Need Some Lefty Help with Drilling Options
« on: November 18, 2007, 10:43:40 AM »
So I was bowling right handed and have always been told Im a closet lefty. I throw the ball great right handed, but my mechanics are better left handed. I can even throw the ball good left handed, just kind of slow. Have to work a little more on accuracy and repeating shots.

So after a good 4 years with the last few being so so, I have finally figured to give up on bowling due to alot of frustrations but thanks to my parents Im going to give a shot at being lefty. No small task, but Im so cofident I can get it done.

I told myself if I did well in a no tap tourny that I would buy a couple of new balls and set myself up for success. I placed 6th out of 18 by shooting 800. That was my goal for the time being and I was extremely glad I got it.

Now onto the balls. Buddies proshop has Lane 1 on sale right now for 105 shipped. I picked up the Uranium Solid and the H2O Pearl. Im currently throwing right at 14 mph left handed. The ball Im currently using is a right handed label leverage The Beast. I have alot of control and I track right beside the fingers but not over. Im of course going to go with a couple of stronger layouts, but not exactly sure what yet.

If someone could point me into the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I am versatile as well left handed. Im usually playing deeper, but due to the layout on The Beast, Im playing mostly 12-15 throwing the ball over 6-8 with a decent reaction. All opinions would be helpful. Thanks!

The best way to give layout advice, would be to tell everyone your pap, rev rate and conditions of the center that you bowl at and your desired ball reaction.  It will make it alot easier, if you cannot however, usually to get real basic, place the pin above your ring finger and shift the cg a little and that will usually roll good, since your ball speed is a little slower imo.

Well the lanes are oiled 40 ft and the outsides are a little slick. Its a nice shot, but can be a pain at times. I would say I have medium revs and my pap I would guess is low since I dont track over the fingers of the ball Im currently using. Im going to try to find that out this week.

Pretty much I will have a solid and a pearl. I want the solid to be strong in the midlanes but rolly on the back and the pearl to be lenghty with backend. I already have a few ideas, just thought I would post for other suggestions.
