Track further from fingers
« on: April 29, 2024, 11:23:02 AM »
I use the sarge Easter grip, cause of wrist injury and being 68y/
o! My pap is 4-1/4" right x 1-3/4" up being right handed. My track is about 3" from my fingers and about 1-1/2" from my thumb. This isn't much different than when I used full finger tip, but my old pap was 4-3/4" X 1-1/8". I get more 9 counts, mostly 10 pins and some 7 pins. I've been using the same pin to pap distance as full finger tip and have no problem hitting the pocket. Any suggestions on changes to pin to pap distance and mb location on asymmetrical balls? Thanks for any advice and I've been drilling for years, but I tend to overthink my stuff!

It's hard to tell from your post but it sounds like you're using a "standardized" PAP rather than your actually measured PAP?

If you're leaving a lot of corner pins then you need to increase your entry angle into the pocket.

It's my measured pap checked several times with an armadillo and with tape placed on pap.

Balls you're using?  Conditions?  Approximate rev rate?  Speed?

My first blind guess would be that at 68 your speed and rev rate aren't what they used to be but your ball is hooking about the same amount so the ball has lost a lot of hit.  Depending on the surface that could be weaker covers or stronger covers drilled weaker.  Really need to make sure your ball is coming off the friction strong and you are lining up high flush, not just lining up to hit the pocket.
