2 finger layouts

So I know a guy that is getting a ball that only uses 2 fingers no thumb (don't ask him to chance, no chance) looking for possible layouts and what not. I know I bought a ball off a 2 finger dude b4 where he drilled through the cg and I believe put that pin above and right of the fingers? But like how do u begin to layout 2finger  no thumb bowlers especially with the new rule changes  goes that'll b taking effect in 2019

drilling for a 2 finger bowler no thumb is simple. You almost have to drill the ball with the CG close to or in between the fingers because theres no way of removing the weight if the CG is anywhere else. Most of it is pin to PAP and cover prep.

Prefect that's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. Would it be possible to change that with the new 3 oz rule next yr?

It would still have to be (CG) kept to within 2-3 inches, wouldn't it?

it will all depend on the statics of the ball to begin. Something with a really low top can have the CG move around and still be statically legal. There are just a lot of variables though.

You're right, didn't think that out too well probably because I normally look for 2-4 oz top wt on balls.

with the new USBC rule changes  the cg can be moved to more places    you get up to 3ozs of side and 3ozs of top or thumb   you can make this work with longer pins now.    spans will no longer be through finger holes and middle of bridge  will be center of your palm which also makes it easier to lay out for no thumbers and 2 handed bowlers   :)  have to just make a X at this point moving forward

Is this confirmed on the center of palm reference? I feel that would make more sense anways, but hadn't heard about this until now. That would make the point of reference really close to a thumb in bowler.

I don't believe that is correct, but so far, I can't find any clarity on the bowl.com website, which is par for them.

I think they meant to have the bowler mark which side of the holes they were using with the 'X' so that a bowler could not flip the ball, reversing the static weights at times, without someone noticing the 'X' is in the wrong location.  I think they still want the static weights measured the old way for two-handers, but this is the info I can't find on their site and since I am not a two-hander, I never paid any attention before to where that info was located.

Got a reply back from USBC and this is what they said:


 Hello,

          Thank you for your e-mail. If a bowler does not use a thumb hole, there must be a scribed or engraved “+” near the center of the palm to indicate the grip orientation. The ball must be delivered in the marked orientation (i.e. palm must cover the “+”). The “+” only indicates the grip orientation, it is not where the static balance is measured from. Static balance will still be measured from the center of grip (the center of the bridge for bowlers who don’t have a thumb hole). I’ve pasted a link to the FAQ’s about the new specifications below. Please let me know if you have any questions.
