When you find a ball on this web site (or any other) , that looks like you would like to purchase and every thing looks good about the ball except that the persons selling the ball has a span (lets say 4") and your span that you use is 4 1/2 to 4 5/8.
Plugging the thumb and having it redrilled to your span and leaving everything else the same. How could or would that change the dynamic's of the ball's reaction.

Very minimally. Most people don't track over the thumb hole, even very high trackers are usually close but not through it. That's my favorite kind of ball to get used, actually. Plug the thumb, throw in new inserts, keep the existing layout. Doesn't cost as much as a full plug and re-drill.

My favorite is the guys who buy balls with different spans than their own ...AND leave the span and pitches as they came!
