Thumb Mold opinions
« on: May 11, 2005, 03:08:14 AM »
I've finally got the perfect feel in my thumbhole...and I'm going to make the move to a replicated thumbhole this summer...I know there are mold products...vise, custom thumb, etc. What sort of exeperiences has everyone had with the various products? What works, what doesn't?

I use the vise system.

Works great, get the same feel every ball.

I can show up at the shop and start throwing, no need to work out a thumbhole.

I've been disappointed with my Vise system as
1. the second set of resin and compound has just never worked right.
First set was perfect.
2. Most of my molds on the 1 1/4 setup have always been a touch small and have gone in really easy and then had difficulty staying, whereas my Urethane slugs always go in tight and stay forever.  (ie one can pound a urethane slug in, a mold cannot be that tight or one will mess up top edge).

3 I've heard I think custom thumb makes a hardening compound that I've seen in thumb grips that I like better.

REst of kit is fine but expensive.
