balls without slugs
« on: September 05, 2008, 03:04:51 PM »
I notice that if I dont use a slug that the ball hurts the front of my thumb should I be using more reverse pitch will that help. When I bring it down I fees like a sharp pain into the front of it. I am using 3/16 reverse now. I havent been drilling very long so trying to find out what might help. If I put alot of bevel still seems to do so.

If you are using reverse pitch and you beveled that doesn't add up to me.  I would look at beveling a little further down

I would look at the span and make sure that you're not to long on the span, which could put extra pressure at the base of the thumb. Just my $.02, Bruce
P.S. The more reverse you use the quicker your thumb exits the hole, but it also creates more squeezing and you lose the relax arm swing that you want. If you use excess beveling you also allow more squeezing, I have seen a lot of the pro and top tier bowling use very little bevel to learn not to squeeze! Just trying to help!
