Tru pitch gauge, the cheap one

Is the tru pitch gauge/span ruler that's under $30 good enough for home use?

I'm a plumbing contractor and it's always better to have the best tools to do any job.How well do you want to do it ?

I have the $30 set and the more expensive jonell pitch gauges.... I was not as impressed with the jonell as I expected. Yes they are very easy to use but they also have a lot of play in them, more so then expected.

The down side to the cheaper set is you will have problems fitting the tabs in the ball on older drill bits, or drill bits that have been resharpened. It takes a little more work to do with the cheaper one in the conditions mentioned above. I actually trust the cheaper set more.

I can not say I think the jonell are more accurate.

It's just to compare ball to ball and any future ball I purchase.

Finding a tab that fits tightly, I'm assuming, may not be the exact size tab the pilot hole was drilled?

Kid,did you ever ck with the manufacturer of the jonells to ask about their mantainence or maybe defectiveness? .I've used mine for over 18yrs and they work flawless

No. Do you have that information available? Google didn't have much luck, only sellers of the product not maintenance or manufacturer.

Back in 2013, I put an order in to Jayhawk while in Kansas taking the IBPSIA class for the Jayhawk Precision Digital Pitch Gauge


But after a couple of weeks, they still couldn't deliver, so I had to order the Jonell from Innovative.



I tried to get the "best" tools, but they weren't available.
