I've been told not to put a Switch Grip in my spare ball because it's not a good idea to use in a plastic ball...
Yes/No/Maybe so?

No. It'll crack out pretty easily.
If you get something like a Mix though, with a more durable coverstock, I don't see an issue.

I've seen people that do and people that don't. The only thing I've noticed is you probably shouldn't if you roll over the thumbhole

I have same spare ball with switch grip for 10 years now, no issues

My 7 year old WD has a Turbo switch grip with no problems to date.

plastic balls are always more prone to cracking as they get abused the most.

I’ve had really good luck with the Storm Mix as a spare ball and they are much more durable than plastic if you want to use a switch grip.

I have had a Vise IT in my spare ball for years. Never had an issue. One argument for it, you have an additional spare IT.

Yeah, this is what I've seen mostly. Doesn't last long rolling over the thumbhole.
