I'm wondering what the outcome of a VAL angle larger than 90 degrees will be on a symmetrical ball. As you increase the angle from zero to 90 I'm aware it mellows out the breakpoint more as the pin gets further from the VAL, but once you pass 90 and start approaching 180, the pin gets closer to the VAL again. So does an 80 react the same as a 100? 20 like 160, but with the pin below the PAP vs above? The only difference being the bowtie location?
I'm looking for extremely mellow breakpoints and want to know if 90 is as good as it gets or if beyond 90 is even better. Extremely slow speed is coming into play here.

To be honest, you're over thinking. Mellow breakpoint will come from proper surface prep and layout. If I'm drilling you something and you want super mellow, After Dark with a 2 inch pin to pap, adjust the surface as needed.

I used to have an old Whiplash that flipped pretty hard on the backend. ( hard was relative to those times long ago, of course)
I had it re-drilled with a 115 degree val angle which almost made it pin on axis. it was extremely mellow!

I fear a 2" pin to Pap will die out too early in this instance. It's for my kid and his 13lb equipment. Where a ball dying out that's 15 or 16lb can be effective and carry, 13lb tends to need the ball continuing through the pins more. Later roll and longer pins to PAP promote this reaction more. I'm just looking for the most mellow reaction in a ball with a core vs just drilling a 3 piece like a Scout. Was wondering if 90 was it or if I could go further.

Pin to PAP distance should be your focus. Bringing the pin to far down can have bad affects on the track flare catching the fingers.
