I love SG, but had to stop using them since no one within 30-40 miles does them at all, and the only one I kow of is, shall we say, unable to produce a consistent result.
Despite the problems however, I've decided to "switch" back to an interchangeable insert, some how, some way.
I personally had good luck with Turbo, with only one broken inner. Now, after initially hearing such glowing reviews of the Vise system, I hear about breakage.
Please, from those who have used both ONLY, what's the bototm line? Which should I go with?

I've only heard of I believe one person on this forum having trouble with breaking a Vise IT. I've personally never broken one (and I broke TWO of the Turbo Switch Grips!), and I've never seen anybody else around here break one. They're much better designed than the Turbo Switchgrips as far as ease of installation and longevity in my opinion.

Why not use a Vise molded thumb? Absolutely no need to worry if its going to break or not.

The advantages to interchangeable thumbs:
1) Different sized thumb inserts to switch out if you have problems with your thumb changing sizes often
2) No need to adjust tape in EVERY ball you throw that night. You adjust tape once and you're done.
And, again, the Vise ITs are VERY well designed -- they don't move around at all, they feel exactly like a regular thumb slug, and I don't have any worry whatsoever that they're going to break.

I have to agree with Dan. Molded thimbs have always intrigued me, but my thumb changes quite a bit and there's a defnite difference in feel when I can switch slugs. Again tonight in league I wished I had gone back to interchangeables. Finding someone to do them however, remains an absolute b$%^&.

I changed all my stuff to IT when I was out bowling the Masters (missed cashing by 1 pin!!! I'll save that rant for another day). Greatest thing since sliced bread in my opinion. If you need them put in at Nationals check with Bob at the Hammer booth. The installation was easy and when you do a new ball all you have to put in is a couple of pieces to hold the insert and the sleeve and bam! all finished.

Lots of thumb molds on the pro tour, but I've noticed many of the pros are switching to the Vise ITs. Off the top of my head, I've seen Brad Angelo and Wes Malott use them, and there's been a couple other guys I've seen switching out thumb inserts on TV this year.

just have the proshop drill the hole a size or 2 smaller... i do that with a lil drop of glue for my grips... IT WORKS!!!

All, a silly question. Can we use a Turbo thumb slug on IT? I use Turbo slug and the feeling is good. So i want to know can i use it on IT.

I don't believe you can use the turbo on the IT because the bottom is different. I just switched to the IT system a few weeks ago and i have to say this is thebest thing yet. Having the same thumb feel in each ball is awesome. I would highly recommend it.

I have used both and can say if you want easy fixes then stick with the Turbo Switch Grip. When I had issues, they were small simple fixes like gluing the outer back in due to core shrinkage. I haven't had an inner break in 2 years of using them. Switching to Vise, as Staffer, I can say as I'm drilling fresh balls, I've never had something feel so secure. Where you will run into issues is trying to rig by leaving slug material behind. The best option if youre switching to Vise is drill fresh or plug the thumb and redrill. However, if you are using the same size thumb slug then it shouldn't be an issue because the bit is big enough to remove all slug material.
