RICO layout help!
« on: July 24, 2008, 03:56:26 AM »
Hello everyone, i've never used the Rico layout before, but after seeing my friend throw a ball Rico drilled, I feel it's a must have.

I have 2 balls coming in. An Emerald Vibe, and a Blue Vibe.

Both balls have an RG of 2.51, and a Differential of .045. (14lbs)

The Emerald has a nasty skid/flipping coverstock (the Toxic cover) and the Blue has a solid coverstock.

I'd like the Emerald to be a huge skid/flip and the Blue Vibe to be my smooth, solid, control ball. Which would be best to drill Rico? I've heard the Rico can either make a ball really skid/flippy or really smooth and arcy.

Please help out, and thanks in advance!

The Rico drill is going to make the ball reaction a little smoother and a little earlier rolling than most other layouts.  If you want the Emerald to be bigtime skid/snap, definately avoid putting the Rico drill on it.  You'll want a higher pin position on that ball to give you length and strong response to friction.  Use the Rico layout on the Blue Vibe to get a very smooth, continuous motion off the breakpoint.

Thanks for the comment, Dan, and that is what I expected.

Any other comments? Or does Dan's basically sum it up?

RICO rocks Mr. Longo.  HAHA.  I wish i could thrown the ball more last night but the old knee had to flare up again.  I am definatly putting this drill on another ball as soon as i can.
