Weighthole for midlane
« on: May 15, 2003, 01:52:35 PM »
A good friend of mine, (great bowler) had recently gotten a Mutant.

Well everybody loves this ball!  But for him it had been really a waste of time.
On oil it would tend to get wide easy and not quite recover for him.
On dry the polished particle cover was too early.  It just didn't seem to fit anywhere real well or as well as other stuff.

Note in our area the dominant condition seems to be sort of sloppy at the break point but not a lot of high volume head oil.

In my case ringing 7 pins have been the dominant theme of the year.  Similar problems but a better bowler.

I attacked my midlane problem recently with crosshatching over sanding with the track bringing my breakpoint ever so slightly closer to me.

He attacked this problem with this polished Mutant by putting a weighthole on his pap and reducing his sideweight down to 0.

The result for him was fantastic.  On a ball who's probably high set was 660 to 670.  He on the first night with this new setup had a 790 in an important area tournament.

If you need more midlane which seems to be a dominant theme for today's slicker conditions at the breakpoint, one of these two ideas may work for you.

I thought this was such an important post that I thought I would bring it to the top again.

Anything that can make a ball 130 pins better for a multiple time regional PBA champ better may be worth knowing.

To explain better my current solution, I've started crosshatching INSTEAD of sanding just with the track!

Two solutions to today's longer breakpoints.

I think important!

Obviously he is not that good.

Maybe we could arrange a match for you,

PS the post here was to give some ideas to be helpful.
Not to start a debate.  Does everything need to be a debate!?
Could you describe for us the hand position changes you will use to beat him also?

I withdraw and delete all my comments that have offended you, LuckyLefty.

I understand that drilling weight holes on the PAP can affect a ball's reaction. My personal belief is that its effect is not to the extent that you believe, no matter what my bowling capabilities might be.

FYI Debate is good and I thought it was encouraged; confrontation is not good.
