Is there such a drilling that offers the best carry?

Is there such a drilling that offers the best carry? Ive heard of people say its the drilling when i have a ball that leaves a lot of 7 pins but is there such a drilling that helps a ball carry better then another?

Im as consistent as my ball reaction.
If for every shot my cherry bomb carried a 7 pin id be rich..But im not..Whats that say?

Nope, AFAIK, there isn't a single one best drilling for all balls, for all people, for all conditions.. The best drilling depends on the the bowler's release & delivery, the ball's design and the oil pattern.

On the same note.

One thing I do not understand is the science of what makes a ball carry well.  Lane 1 guys always talk about how saws carry anything left of the 6.  I read all about differential, RG, Coverstock, Core, pin placement, distance, Weight blocks, MB, and all sorts of stuff that will make a ball roll early, late, weak, strong, blah blah.  What about a ball makes it carry better than others (besides hitting the pocket)?  If you assume the same person is throwing the same shot with two balls and hitting generally the same target, why will one ball carry more often than the other?

I've noticed (in person) the inferno seems to carry on quite a few questionable shots, as does x-factor.

I'de like to hear from some Lane 1 guys as I'm due for a new ball in a month or so and would like to make an educated purchase.  My freak out doesn't carry like it use to, but then again I probably have 500 games on it.

The Inferno carries great, the Deuce didn't carry for me, the Buzzsaw XL didn't until I had it plugged and redrilled but other Buzzsaws do carry well,  all AZO/Visionary carry well.

Deflection plays alot in carry, when my equipment deflects too much forget about carry.  That's usually when you try to use a pearl ball on too much oil.  Balls often hit flatter coming in from deeper angles, flat hits sometimes deflect causing low carry.

I also think balls that save more energy going down the lane carry higher.  This is why Lane 1 fans talk about increased carry, the Buzzsaw core has been tested to save higher amounts of energy throughout the lane.

It doesn't have to be necessarily a Buzzsaw to carry well, it also depends on the condition and ball you're throwing.  The layout and core/cover combo matching up with the lane conditions is an important factor that shouldn't be over looked.

I had someone who was real knowledgeable about drill patterns once try to explain something similar to me many years ago, but at that time I did not quite understand everything he was trying to tell me.  It went something like this:  Every core has a strong point or position on it and when the ball hits the pocket with the strong point coming into the pins, the carry is better.  If the strong point is already at the bottom of the ball when the ball hits the pocket, the carry is less.  The trick is to adjust the drilling pattern, ball surface, weight holes, etc so that for that bowler, with that release, the strong point of the core is hitting the pocket the maximum amount of times.

Has anyone else heard of this theory or was it just hogwash?

I have also.  Some drilling experts know where to place the pin in order to gain MAXIMUM energy retention at the pins.  I have asked Rich (Mr. Buzzsaw) a few times and he briefly covered this topic.  I don't know anything other than what he told me.

My memory is very hazy, but it came down to the ball entering the pocket at a 90 degree layout of some sort, I wish I could remember the details.  I will research and see if I can find what he told me.
