DV8 Freakshow

Left Handed
PAP: 4-7/8x1/4
Rev Rate: 355
Speed: 18.5 mph at release
Rotation: 40°
Tilt: 11°

Drilled 55x4.5x25 no balance hole.

The DV8 Freakshow is a completely new offering from DV8, especially at this price point. This new offering pairs the new 2.481 RG 0.054 Differential Freakshow Core with the new Class 6V Pearl cover. I have tested the Freakshow on a 43ft 24mL 13.5:1 house shot on wood as well as a 43ft 25mL 11:1 on brand new SPL synthetics. I was thoroughly impressed with the performance that this ball offers for the price point. Each time I began by targeting 12-7 using an "up the back" type delivery. The ball was really clean through the heads and had a smoother arc into the pocket with great continuation through the pins. After 6 frames, I was warmed up and ready to see what it could do. I started moving in and used the built in friction to get the ball back. It was at the point when I was as deep with my feet as I normally go with my Thug Life. This new Freakshow is so clean down lane that it really pops on the backend when fed to the dirt. This ball just keeps surprising me. My friend said it best, "It looks like the ball gets bigger at the pins. It just sends them flying and there's no chance." Brian Graham has compared this to Brunswick's Melee Jab and I would have to agree. At the out of box surface the Freakshow is cleaner than the Melee Jab but it has a strong response off the dry like the Jab. This ball is one that should be on your radar. At this price point, you are getting a lot of ball. This ball has a lot of shelf appeal and would be a great ball to introduce bowlers to DV8. I feel it will be a big hit for many league bowlers. This is going to be my go to ball in my medium-light oil THS leagues.

Drilled this one up 60x5 3/4 x30 no Hole

Ball speed is 15.6  Rev rate is 389

I used this Ball on PBA Cheetah with great results. this Ball stays on line and is very clean this ball allows you to swing it or go straighter down the lane with the same hitting power through the pins. When this hits the pins it sounds like you threw it 20mph that's how hard this ball hits. I believe this ball to be a sleeper but for sure a keeper. Great ball for Medium to light conditions

First of all, I must say the colors on this ball definately grab your attention especially when its rolling down the lane!

I drilled my Freakshow 4 1/2" off my PAP, pin above the ring finger, with a 7/8" weight hole 2" deep on my PAL.

Tested on a 37' House shot

The Freakshow is very clean through the front part of the lane, stores its energy for the backends. The hitting power with this ball is tremendous and continues through the pins.
The one thing I like about this ball is how versatile it is. I am able to change angles very easily, I can go straighter up the lane with the ball or I can step into the middle part of the lane soften the speed. Its a great ball for medium to light oil patterns.
For this particular ball, the price range is phenomenal! You wont find a better ball for the price.

This ball brings a more angular breakpoint motion to the DV8 line and is the right ball for a lighter pattern with a strong back end motion. this ball will give you a powerful motion off the friction and will kick out corner pins on a regular basis this is a go to ball on any pattern that opens up.

My name is Bryan L. Williams and I am a PBA Member and DV8 Regional Pro Staffer.

The Freakshow is an absolute BEAST!  The ball is just absolutely incredible.  Predictability and incredible ball motion makes the Freakshow a must have in your bag!  The best way to describe its ball motion is that it is ultra clean through the front part of the lanes, unlike any ball I have ever thrown.  The most amazing aspect of this ball is that it maintains its motion at the break point and through the pins, with predictability that is simply amazing.  It’s continuous backend motion is very consistent and again…..predictable.  The layout on my ball is the Pin just above and to the right of my ring finger with the CG stacked and the surface out of the box. It has a pin of 2-3".

This ball works very well on medium lane conditions, but the surface can be altered to change the ball motion for every bowler.  The DV8 Freakshow is just that…a total freak on the lanes!  You will not be disappointed with this ball!  DV8…if you’re not throwing one, you’re just not bowling!!! Likes: No doubt a great #1 to #2 ball, very clean through the fronts, very controllable back end reaction. To 3 different house conditions, 4-6 games, moved maybe 3 boards total. Very consistent and predictable reaction.

Drilled my Freakshow 50x5x55 (pin in middle finger) and immediately killed the polish with 4k with the intention of having a ball ideal for playing a fallback once the lanes get really burnt up.  I am typically at my best in the mid/late part of a block, but lately some of the tournaments I have bowled have gotten really ugly late in the day and with higher volume patterns/slicker oils my increased worry of seeing patterns cliff led me to pick this layout.
My first game out of the box was 279 with the front 9 (ring 10) in the third game on Route 66 which is a lower volume, long pattern.  I had unlimited room left, yet the ball still rolled up strong in the mids to flush when I had leaked it a little right.  The Freakshow is smooth enough to get to the pocket on fresh oil, but I have found my carry to be suspect as it is just a little too responsive off of clean backends to mix the pins right.  I feel that this ball shines brightest late in the day when my high and mid range balls are either too early or too responsive, yet I am playing too far in for my low end equipment to kick out the corners.

I don't have too many balls laid out like this in my bag, but its enough weaker than my Melee Jab/Ridiculous that I would be making a blind guess when moving between balls (5+ board difference).  The balls it closest relates to are my pin down XOXO and Fanatic, both of which are about 2-3 boards stronger.  The Freakshow has replaced my original Hooligan (but with slightly more motion downlane) at the bottom of my bag (not using my Outcasts anymore and I have not found lanes dry enough to warrant drilling a Rhino) and is my alternative on broken down lanes to my more angular tall pin LT48.

Likes: This ball is absolutely amazing. Starting from the colors, to the price point, to the versatility, to the hitting power. It provides a nice midlane read with backend continuation. My layout 65x4.5x45 is the same layout I have on my Danger Zone. This ball for me has the same midlane read of the DZ but a lot more backend pop allowing me to play various angles on a variety of patterns. Definitely a benchmark ball for me. If your wanting to try DV8 to see what there about this is the ball to try.

I just drilled this ball up and love it. It is nice and smooth and perfect for dryer conditions as it is not too jerky in the back but still has enough power to carry through the pins!!!

A great addition to the arsenal!!!

Likes: I drilled this ball last week and all I can say is WOW!!! League play is bowled on a second shift and the last couple of games get a little dry. I drilled the FREAKSHOW 50x5x35, the ball is super clean in the fronts, it moves hard when it encounters friction but very controllable. It hits incredibly hard, stores a lot of energy. Its perfect to open up the lane, this ball will come back.
Its a must have in your bag for medium to drier lanes. It has great shelf appeal and the price point is insane. DV8 hit a homerun with this ball!!!

Not many bad remarks can be made for this ball. My intentions with this ball was to replace a Diva Pearl. I drilled this ball exactly the same 5" from PAP (pin over bridge) with the CG kicked about 1-1/2" right of the center line and no weight hole. Where my Diva Pearl started to read the lane, the Freakshow continued to store its energy and get close to another 1-2ft down lane before making the turn. This ball has been great for later in the blocks, or when I can throw it to the "dirt" and watch it recover.

Overall, this may be one of the cleanest DV8 balls I have thrown. The way this clears the fronts and stores energy is not like anything I have seen in the DV8 line in the past without needing to go to an entry level piece.

This is definitely the ball for those who are looking for a ball to use on medium to light conditions, or later in tournament blocks when the lanes start to read quickly in the fronts.

You won't be able to find a ball right now that's as good as the DV8 FreakShow on medium to dry lanes. It has fantastic colors, to start with, so when it's throwing pins everywhere, it's extremely noticeable. The pearl cover gets this ball extremely clean through the heads, and then it hits the break point, and makes a good strong turn left. The ball finishes great through the pins, and on good shots, rarely leaves anything standing. It's clean enough that, many times, no ball change from it is even needed in the course of a standard three game set. DV8 has a big winner with the FreakShow in the versatility category with the FreakShow!
