Here is the new upper mid ball from DV8, the Notorious.  This ball features a brand new core, the Antagonist.  This ball is wrapped up with the composite fang cover, the same used on the Pitbull Bite last year.  This ball offers the famous dynamicore to enhance the hitting power to get near the Quantum’s one.  This ball also features the brand new DOT, so the raiser pin is located underneath the ball.  This technology allows you to drill wherever you want without taking care of the pin placement and wonder about the warranty.

I wanted to have a strong asymmetrical ball with some control, so I decided to go with the pin under the ring finger and the mass bias just right of the thumb hole.

On the lane this ball clears the heads pretty easily even if the cover isn’t polished because the cover is hybrid.  I was also surprised about how much backend this ball got for a dull ball.  Compared to the poison, I play the ball about the same but the shape is different.  The Notorious has more length and backend compared to the poison.  Compared to the Prowler, I play the Notorious 3 boards left with my feet and 2 boards left with my eyes.  The Notorious rolls a couple feet sooner and cover more boards because of the dull surface.   The first time I tried the ball, it was after a league.  I was amazed buy because I was able to play the track even if there have been 3 games played.  Usually, my dull stuff rolls too early and I don’t get pin carry because the ball hits flat.  But with the Notorious, I was able to play the track and still get great hitting power and carry.  Thanks to the hybrid cover!

The ball comes with a 3000 grit finish.  But like all the other DV8 covers, the composite fang is very versatile.  It can be padded with a 1000 grit or even 500 grit pad for speed dominant or when you want to play heavier patterns.   If you want to add some length and a sharper backend, you can put some polish on it.

To conclude, if you want to have a very versatile ball and a ball that can clear the heads pretty easily, the Notorious is your choice.

COMMENTS:
The DV8 Notorious is the newest ball in the $$$$$$ price point. There was a need to bridge the gap from the Pitbulls to the Poison, and the Notorious fills that gap well.

I chose a layout for the Notorious that filled a spot in my bag that I needed. I wanted to be able to use a bigger asym to control friction at several centers i see locally, using the stronger Composite Fang Hybrid cover with some surface, added with the layout numbers which make this ball super clean even with surface, it allows me to move right and control the breakpoint when my other stuff is just way too responsive to the friction.

I have literally had to make myself put this ball away at times. It has quickly become my favorite ball in my bag. I am finding that Im a huge fan of Dynamicore in the DV8 line as well, Notorious along with the Prowler definitely have a different hit and carry to them.

Overall if you have a Pitbull line ball in your bag and are looking for a little step down when it becomes too much, the Notorious will be the ball you need. Or, if you are new to DV8 and are looking to try one for the first time, I highly recommend starting with a Notorious, its just an all around great ball.

300 Out the Box….What Else is Needed to Be Said!

The new DV8 Notorious is the newest heavy oil ball in the DV8 line and it definitely does not disappoint.  Right out of the box with no practice with it, my first two games were 223 and 300.  The ball is extremely predictably off the spot.  It is very smooth down the lane and makes a very aggressive move to the pocket at the transition, but does not overreact.  With the addition of the new DOT Technology and Dynamicore added, the DV8 Notorious is a definite must have in your bag.   Dynamicore is a major difference maker with this bag because of its retainability of hitting power and keeping the pins low instead of the pins jumping around.  The DV8 Notorious….if you don’t have one by now, you’re just not bowling!!!
