Here is the new hi performance ball for DV8, the Frequency. This ball offer a brand new asymmetrical core, adversary and a brand new hybrid cover, flexure. The ball features the new DOT technologie to optimize the durability and also dynamicore for better carry.

The ball comes out of the box with a 500 2000 slip sanding technique and it allows the ball to be less affected with lane shine. The new core / cover technologie and the surface allows the ball to be clean in the front part of the lane and recover pretty hard on the backend.

Because I had a lot of strong ball with early roll, I decided to go with a longer pin up drilling to be able to use it right after my strongest ball. I went with a 60 x 4 3/4 x 30 pin above the bridge drilling.

On the lane, the ball delivers exactly what I expected. The ball is clean through the front and delivers a strong recovery on the back end. Compared to my Verge, I play the ball in the same area but the reaction is completely different. Because the ball is asymmetrical, I'm able to begin with the verge on the fresh and when it starts to burn up, I can switch to the Frequency and play the same area. Compared to the instigator, I'm 2 boards left on the approach and 1 board left at the target meanly because of the backend motion.

For people with higher ball speed, the surface can be adjusted and you'll be able to use that ball and get advantage of the backend motion.

There's a mega promotion with the Frequency going on. When you buy a brand new one, you get a free DV8 spare ball of the same weight. No claim to fill, the ball comes in a double box containing both balls!!

To conclude, if you want want to have a strong ball with a sharp breakpoint, the Frequency is for you. You'll get a nice looking ball, a lot of backend and dynamicore for better carry and you'll also get a free spare ball to cover the wood when you don't strike.

COMMENTS

The DV8 Frequency is a outstanding asymmetrical ball that is very controllable throughout the lane and strong angular backend motion.  Frequency is great for Medium oil conditions and can be used on many sport patterns.  The Frequency is definitely a great ball to add to your arsenal.

Layout: 60 x 2.5 x 40

Intentions: I'm a higher rev 2 hander that was looking to take advantage of a slightly cleaner cover to put at the top of my bag instead of your typical big sanded asym. The utilization of a 2.5" pin to pap was intended to limit the flare and give me more control on fresh.

Results: I'm continually blown away by this ball. The Flexure cover has enough teeth for fresh while still being clean enough to bring it in to play on higher friction lanes and has been a pivitol piece in my bag for controling the over / under I see from most fresh house shots. What this translates to shape wise for me is a ball that gets a little more forward off the spot instead of a ball that goes sideways. This type of motion is very predictable and easy to read which means it provides very clear signs of when a change is needed. That change can be either a zone change or a ball change. If I need something to stay a bit forward off the spot but cleaner up front then I'm going to move to my Radical Conspiracy theory that has the same layout as my Frequency. If the forward motion is starting to get a bit flat then I'm moving to something rounder off the spot like an Intel, Hero, or Melee Jab SE. On a bit of a final note, this was the first ball with Dynamicore that I drilled and oh my is it LOUD when it hits the pins. There's a noticable difference in sound when the Frequency (and every ball I've drilled with Dynamicore since) hits the pins compared to any other ball I've thrown.

The DV8 Frequency is a terrific piece if you're looking for a lot of length and sharp motion off the back end of the pattern.  That type of shape for my game is mostly associated with pearls but this hybrid retains that characteristic with an aggressive cover.  This allows the bowler to get further into the oil on house type shots and have confidence that the ball will hook off the spot and get through the pins properly.

I've used this ball on house later in the league session, and used it on a shorter sport pattern where I was looking for a lot of angular motion from the gutter.  This is an asymmetric core, with DOT technology (4 year warranty) and DynamiCore for maximum hitting power.  It's a ball that for me filled a gap in my arsenal very nicely.  It's drilled pin just above ring finger with MB above and left of the thumb hole.

It's a strong yet versatile ball that every bowler should consider.
