So I want to share some info about my DV8 vandal. I drilled my vandal 50 * 4 * 50 and left it at box finish. Its hard for me to put this ball in perspective vs some of my previous dv8 equipment.
Like everything made nowadays its very clean through the front of the lane. It reminds me of my dv8 dude in that respect. Seems like it speeds up through the front of the lanes that's where the comparison of those 2 balls end. This ball is a freaking boomerang for me. Just completely sideways. This is my second year on staff with dv8 and last year I didn't see this shape. I honestly don't know if its the cover(New composite) or the new core shape. But its as sideways as anything iv'e throw from any of the brunswick brands.

The vandal overall is about 3-5 weaker than my thug series but much my angular than any of the thugs have been and its not even close.

The DV8 Vandal is new territory for the DV8 brand. It has a brand new assymetric cover with a composite pearl coverstock. This combination gives a most bowlers a benchmark-type ball reaction right out of the box. On fresh conditions I see this ball giving me great length with a strong arc motion going through the pocket. It is a ball reaction I didn’t have in my bag before. I laid my Vandal out with the pin above the middle finger by about 1 ¾ inch. The cg is udner my ring finger and the mass bias point is right on the right edge of my thumb. This layout gives me a great deal of length and a later mid-lane read, while saving a bunch of energy for the backend roll. It’s very hard to make this ball quit, which is something I find very promising in an asymmetric bowling ball. This is the first ball out of my bag on lanes with a little transition (breakdown) or those with backends that aren’t as crisp.

Length: 41ft

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): House Shot

Likes: With the new composite cover and asymmetric core I was really impressed on how controlled the Vandal is. I almost always go with a symmetric core to start and see what I need to do from there, but not the case with the Vandal. Its a great starting or benchmark ball. Clean rolling in the middle to out by the edge. A homerun on DV8 on a ball that completes their line.

My name is Doug Cutler and I am on DV8 Regional Staffer.  This is my second post on the Vandal and all I can say is WOW what a Fantastic Ball. I will  probably drill up 2 more of these balls.  I have my ball drilled with the Pin just above my ring finger and the CG kicked out just a little. The surface on the ball I just hit it with a light 4,000 Abralon Pad.  I have had so many complements on this ball on the ball motion and hitting power. Right out of the box, you can smell the difference. Exactly what is that smell? Absolute success! The Vandal is the ball that will stand against all other companies tried and true skid/flip option. The strength of the Vandal is what surprised me the most.  I don’t usually expect an “all purpose” ball to be able to handle a significant amount of oil.  But the Vandal handled just as much oil as my Thug Corrupt. I can’t believe I would ever describe an asymmetric ball as a “benchmark” ball, but that is what the Vandal is.  It is going to give you a great read of the lane, on many different patterns, and gives a smooth, controllable, strong motion that is great for seeing the lane. If you don't have a Vandal yet in your bag, you really need to get one, and I promise you will not be disappointed!  So get to your Local Pro Shop and Purchase a Vandal Today!! #dv8vandal #dv8bowling

Likes: This ball is a monster. I was fortunate enough to throw a few of these with different layouts at our recent trade show. I was very impressed with how this ball moves on fresh oil. This ball will be a great addition to my Radical Guru Master. Unlike other top end balls from other manufacturers, this ball continues to move through the pins.

The Vandal is a must have ball! I drilled mine 45x4.25x30 and left it box finish. This ball is comparable to the original Dude but on steroids! The first game out of the box was 300! It is cleaner down lane and makes a very powerful angular motion into the pocket. The Vandal is great for heavy to medium oil conditions. This is always the first ball out of my bag it is a great benchmark ball. If you want to play in or out on the lane this ball provides you with all angles to the pocket. The deeper you get on the lane it just keeps coming back! If you want to shoot some big scores get yours today you won’t be disappointed!

I really like this ball.  I drilled it 70 x 4.5 x 20 (my favorite layout).  This gets down the lane and then pops to the pins.  I go between this and my Taunt for THS leagues.  My taunt is a little smoother so when it does not clear the corners, the Vandal does.  I am able to play different angles with the Vandal that I can not with my taunt.  This lends to being able to move around and still have the confidence that the ball will get back to the pocket.  Great ball to pick up if you want a little more kick down lane.

DV8 Vandal (http://dv8bowling.com/balls/vandal/)
70 x 5 x 35 (OOB Surface)

Personal Stats:
400-450 RPM
18-20 MPH
PAP - 5 5/8" over, 1" up
Axis Tilt - Estimated 8-12 Degrees
Current League Average: 243

Intended Use:
I initially hesitated to drill up the DV8 Vandal, because I have never had much success with Asymmetric Pearl balls. After hearing many many good things, I decided to go ahead and drill one. I used 70 x 5 x 35 as a standard strong/flippy layout for me.

Reaction:
Just WOW. I haven't been this impressed by a ball in quite a long time. I cannot put it down. The cover LIKES oil, so it's not like other pearls for me where I tend to throw them through the breakpoint easily. This ball is STRONG off the spot and is a motion I didn't have anything close to in the bag.

Overall:
This ball is just unreal. I've now had a chance to bowl three league nights with it. I am averaging dead on 250 and I HAVEN'T MOVED ME FEET YET. This ball is strong enough that it allows me to start left of most people and the cover is still clean enough that it just doesn't see the transition as quick as other balls do. Long and strong, this ball does NOT go wrong!

DV8 Vandal

If you only can buy one ball this year, this is the one you MUST have in your bag.  This ball is nothing short of amazing.  It gets down the lane so cleanly, then when it clears the friction makes an immediate left hand turn.  It is incredibly angular.  My only advice is give this ball so room to allow it to showcase how amazing it is.  This ball is excellent on medium to light oil conditions, it will allow you to have some miss area and you will be impressed with its ability to recovery!  It hits will great angular velocity and I couldn’t imagine bowling without it.

I drilled my Vandal 70 x 5 x 35.  This kept the pin up which I think makes sense with the natural characteristics of the ball; especially with its cover and core combination.

Who wants to hit a home run when you can hit a Grand Slam? The new DV8 Vandal is just that, a Grand Slam! I drilled my Vandal pin under my middle finger (5 1/2" from PAP) and the reaction on this ball is absolutely phenomenal. The composite pearl cover picks up in the middle just enough to not "squirt" through the oil, and comes off the spot like nothing I have seen before.  No matter what I throw this on, I get the same reaction which is something all bowlers look for. I have used this at numerous different houses in league and it makes people turn their heads the minute they see it go down the lane. I worked a local demo day just before this was released and this was the only ball that I could not get out of peoples hands. If you need a ball for any many types of lane conditions this is the one.

COMMENTS

The DV8 Vandal is a outstanding benchmark ball that can be used on a variety of different oil patterns from house shots to sport patterns.  The Vandal is clean and smooth on the backend where it is best used on Medium oil patterns.  I drilled mine to compliment my Brute Strength which it rolls very similar but the Vandal give more backend.  The Vandal is a great ball that every bowler should have in their arsenal to match a lot of oil patterns that are known to date.

I have thrown my Vandal for about 3 weeks now. I drilled it with the pin above my ring finger. The ball gets down the lane clean and just explodes on the back end. I did hit mine with a used 3000 pad to make it a little smoother off the spot. The Vandal is a great ball when you have to get left and open up the lane. I must say I love this ball!

Left handed, 15 mph, ~400 rev, 4 1/2 over 1/2 up, Vandal drilled 50*x4x30*
First non-Radical ball I have drilled in the past 2 1/2 years.  This ball is a keeper!  A real great piece.  For me, this places the pin above my ring.
The Vandal has been a great piece for me to go when the track begins to get a bit toasty and I have the chance to move my feet right to really cover some boards!  As a lefty, this doesn't happen a lot....but its fun when it does.  The pearl cover on the Vandal gets it down lane with no issues, reads the friction on the back, changes direction and maintains exceptional "pop" through the pins.
For me, I've been able to step up to the Vandal when I'm seeing a bit too much burn in the front of the lane on my Radical Ridiculous.  Ball up to the Vandal, make a couple board adjustment with my feet and eyes, right back in the pocket.
As I mentioned I have only drilled this Vandal and a Nirvana in the past 2 1/2 years, so my personal experience is limited in the DV8 line, I am more than willing to try and help you with your decision making process of the next ball you purchase.  Shoot me an email at:  chrisheringer@gmail.com

The DV8 Vandal uses the composite coverstock technology with a pearl formulation. The Vandal has a very clean motion through the front with a strong backend continuation. I have used this on multiple patterns, and usually go to it when the fronts start too hook too much and and I need a ball that will not read the front part of the lane. I can also use it to stand left and throw it to the friction but not get that hockey stick reaction but more of a strong roll to the pocket. It is very versatile and will work on medium to oily conditions. It will be a little weaker compared to the Thug series balls and have a smoother overall reaction. Like the other DV8 balls, it takes well to surface changes if you need to to handle more oil or smooth out the reaction. If you are looking for a versatile, smooth rolling pearl asymmetrical ball, then the Vandal is it!
