Title: DV8 at Nationals/stories
Post by: prmtme on March 26, 2013, 09:44:19 AM
I would like to here from some people that have maybe bowled Nationals already or are going as to what your game plan was or will be. Ball selections and surface? Etc.. I think it would be great for everybody to share their experiences and maybe some helpful tips.

In Reno, you have to remember that the lane surface isn't going to be like your home center. Less traffic (to not actually have a track burned into the surface) equals less early friction. Personally, I like taking something medium strong, with a long pin to pap (5 inches or so), with a little bit of surface (I don't need anything stronger than 2000, but 4000 is usually gold for me) and play straight up 5 or 6 at the breakpoint. If no one shim wrecks the pair, you can usually just start bumping your feet into the middle of the lane as they transition. They transition hard, so watch your moves, and use something controllable, but not too strong. That usually blows up in your face when you do that, or you ruin it for someone else.

Going next week. (Apr 3-5)  I plan on using this plan.  Going to sand my Wrecker @ 4000 and my Lucid it polished with extender.  Both want to start up early, and I had a good practice session last weekend going up the 7-8.  Planning to stay there as long as I can.  After 10 games, I was in at the 15 with my Lucid for my best game of 266.  I was on the pair by myself, so I expect them to break down early.  Not sure how I will fare at the nationals, because my team is from another state, and they have a tendancy to spray the ball.  Will re-post when I get back.

Thanks for the comments, I have been bowling Nationals now for 16 years so I have a pretty good gameplan " I hope". I have been curious mostly about the DV8 balls dnd how people will be sitting them up also. I had been throwing Storm/Roto for the last 6 years an I have just recently made a move to DV8. I still have a Lucid and a Shatter but the heart of my arsenal is a Maurader and Brutal Nightmare.
