DV8 Line up
« on: November 01, 2011, 12:11:38 AM »
picked up my HR last week and didn't get a chance to throw it before league. from all that i have read i was expecting it to be very strong in the back end. went with a skid/snap pin up drilling, 1st game with it i was way to far left and was getting it right too early and it hit like crap and left a few splits, but didn't want to give up on it so i used it the next 2 games. played a tighter inside line and didn't swing as much and the ball became a monster, drove through the pocket so hard and carried everything, had a few burners but went back to back 250's. used it again on sunday and same results if i keep it in it is 1 of the best balls i have thrown, get it right early and it hits like a wet noodle.... I know this is not a real review, just wanted to share my experiance w/ the ball..

*** picked up a misfit today, put my standard symetric drilling on it pin up between bridge and cg in palm, ball surprised me on its strength. was on a fresh sr. shot (40ft less volume) kept it right and made a nice continuous move to the pocket and hit very hard.   guess I  have to get the reckless now & give that a try.......

***** so went to my shop to pick up a too reckless but they didn't come in so i got the reckless he had to see what it could do, it had a tiny pin to cg maybe 3/4" so had to do pin under ring lay out (will do pin up on the too reckless) threw it like 10 times. hits very hard and carries well, can play a much earlier and diffrent reaction then my hell raiser.  it will be my go to ball after the hell r. starts to burn up. was going to my misfit but i think that was too big of a gap.

I havent seen it "die" yet. I have about 30+ games on it. It has gotten a lot of lane shine which has caused a different reaction, but it definitely isn't dead. I have found that I just have to put it away if there isn't enough oil up front or through the mid lane.

Ex: Thursday night league, maybe get to use it game 1 (depending on the night) but I took it to a different house with a lot more oil on Sat, and used it for all 3 games.

The hellraiser will roll poorly for most I believe if there isn't enough oil up front, but that goes for most strong balls.

Yup, that thing needs some oil in the front part of the lane. Not a puddle, but a steady film. It has so much grip that it goes off in the dry immediately.

I have a Nexus solid that rolls really bad also. Absolutely no backend. I think there is not enough oil for it so it goes dead straight.

used the reckless 10ft frame of the 2nd game & 3rd game in league this week, ball rolled very well and shot 259 after struggling w/ my hell raiser 1st & 2nd games (might have been burning up). ball carried very well and drove everything back.  will use it again on thursday and see what it can do all 3 games.

should be getting my too reckless this week as well,  new toy to try out.

very impressed with the whole dv8 line, was very hessitant in trying it since i haven't matched up well w/ brunswick in a long time (saphire & hpd zones). they are moving my hammers out of my bags......

it's official i am a ball whore!  picked up the too reckless today, threw it about 10 times. lanes were fried so can't get a true read on it, went long and had a big snap in the back end.  put my standard symetric drilling on it.  pin above & in the middle of my bridge and cg in palm.

so far am very happy w/ the DV8 line!

little update**  the too reckless was to much like my misfit (same drilling) so i ened up giving it to a youth bowler that i know.  so far the reckless is my #1 ball. love the look i get with it and it hits so f-n hard.   guess i will get the new hell raiser & give that a try.

Kong,

I watched at least 6 Nexus Solids last night, of which none had any problem hooking the lane.  Most of them hooked on the backend.  There were four on our pair alone, one on the lane to our right and Rash just happened to be subbing last night about 4 pairs down and was also throwing the Nexus solid.

I threw mine all night and so did the other three on our pair.  We shot 723, 713, 689 and 662 with them.

I'd guess it's a layout issue for the way you throw the ball, but this ball is realistically 5-6 boards stronger than my Alpha Max and makes a really strong move on the backend.  And unusual sight for a Brunswick solid cover.

Your probably right about the drilling issue. I wish I had someone else in our area to drill balls that could really tell what the ball is doing when I throw it or what I need to change to get the raection I am looking for.
