Getting a Marauder.
« on: July 05, 2013, 01:27:03 PM »
My teammate is giving me a Marauder that he doesn't use.  I'm going to get it plugged and redrilled this weekend.  It's going to be my benchmark ball.  I'm also getting a Misfit Pearl next week.  How should I drill the Marauder?  I'm a tweener with slower ball speed and a decent amount of revs.

If it is going to be your benchmark you should use your favorite layout. Your benchmark should fall right in the middle of your arsenal in terms of hook, length, backend, etc. For me, my benchmark layout is pin under my bridge with no weight hole. That gives me about as inbetween everything as I can get and I use this ball 50 to 75 percent of the time.

Makes sense.  I want to use my favorite drill on my Misfit Pearl as well.  Would that be ok since the surfaces are different or should I look at different layouts all together?

The balls are different enough where you should see separation with your favorite layout. Unless your favorite layout is pin on axis or something crazy. Lol. You can always adjust surface to tweak or fine tune ball motion.

Right on.  Thanks for your help.  I will talk it over with my ball driller as well.  I just like to have a few opinions.

Out of curiosity, what is your favorite layout? I have the same layout on a marauder and a misfit pearl and I can say for me there is a large enough gap inbetween the two of them where I dont feel the overlap. I have them pin under bridge with no weight hole. Basically is 4.75 from pap for me.

Not sure the exact dimensions.  Pin is up above my ring finger.  I'll try to post a pic when I get on a PC.

Here is my Misfit.  There is a weight hole on the right side that you can barely see.
