Title: Marauder Madness Factory Defect???
Post by: emobarney5595 on April 23, 2014, 09:21:48 PM
So I just got a DV8 Marauder Madness in the mail today, verified first quality, original factory packaging and everything. I was taking a close look at it today and saw that one half of the ball was sanded with pretty low grit abralon, like I was expected, but I noticed that the other half was sanded with a much much higher grit, almost like its polished. Is it meant to be like that??? Please help me out here. I will post pictures soon if there is any confusion

That's weird, because usually any ball would have the same surface on the entire ball.

I am attaching pictures of both sides of the ball. As you can see, there is a noticeable difference in finish between the two sides. This is NOT a trick of the light, I promise you that. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Probably a mix up at the factory...

Is there any way that I can re-sand the ball to make it an even finish? Or would you even recommend playing it like this?

Just sand it to whatever you want. I would expect it will be fine

If it's on exactly one half the ball, I'd suspect a pro shop had it (spinner usage) and then returned it to the distributor, who then sold it to whomever you bought it from.  The factory doesn't use spinners, so whatever they finish it at would likely cover the entire ball.

It's easy to put the ball bag in it's plastic bag and re-close a box.  Just sand it uniformly and then finish it at whatever grit you like.  Easy fix.
