Title: Misfit: Orange/Blue vs Magenta/Yellow?
Post by: charlest on August 24, 2011, 12:14:30 PM
Does anyone know if, by any chance, is the Orange/Blue a solid and the Magenta/Yellow a pearl?

The reason I ask is that their reviews in the Sept. issue of BTM got a very different reaction from them, with the Magenta/Yellow having significantly more backend for each of the 3 testers, Cranker, Tweener AND Stroker. If it were one or even two of them, I'd say it was coincidence. Since it's all three, I have to wonder what's going on.

I also wonder if anyone has compared either Misfit to either or both of the Karmas?

Just curious.

Both Misfits are solid resin...

Haven't compared to a Karma, but I will soon. Drilling DV8 demo balls this week. :)

Thanks, Nick.

Do you have any idea why BTM might have gotten that "result"?
(Since Jim King left BTM, I wonder more about the accuracy of their reviews.)

Hard to say... sometimes color can influence reaction, and sometimes bright colors can trick the eye.

Very true about the colors. Parker did an interview talking about that on a website that was really interesting.

I think I remember Parker talking about that on an interview on the Above 180 podcast.

That's been known for years. Darker colors can roll earlier than brighter colors.

Nick,

I don't think it's a perception problem when all three bowlers noticed it and using EBonite's software they graphed the different ball paths for the 2 colors. There were different measurements also. Check out the September issue of BTM.

i have a orange/blue misfit and out hooks my karma on the backend easily. the roll on this ball reminds of the older Lane1 balls. very clean thru the front reving up the last 20 ft w/strong arc on the back.

I definitely saw the Orange/Blue Misfit stronger than the Yellow/Magenta. It read the lane a little earlier and was stronger overall. The Yellow/Magenta was cleaner through the front with a pretty strong and controlled backend. The Orange/Blue was about 3-4 stronger for me on a THS.
