Title: Re: Misfit VS Karma Solid

From only throwing the misfit, i can only say my info on the misfit. Dont underestimate the misfit, alot of backend. I would believe the Karma, or at least would hope, the Karma would be smoother than the Misfits.

DV8 Hellraiser
DV8 Reckless
DV8 Misfit

Thanks. That is sort of the assumption that I've been working with but hoping one of the Brunswick guys might chime in.

i doubt there's to many people that has rolled them side by side to know the answer. if i were you, i'd try to ask "brunsnick". i think that's your best bet as of now. but i can tell you that the karma solid is a good piece for medium volumes with control.

After watching a few of the Misfits thrown, the Misfit is more angular off the spot. Just watching it it seems that it may squirt a little more in the oil but probably not that much more. Karma Solid is fairly even off the spot. Overall hook looked fairly similar as well. Hopefully this helps a little.

Have you ever looked at the numbers that Brunswick assigns to each ball for Overall Hook, Length and Breakpoint shape? If you haven't, you should because over the years I have found them to be fairly accurate, not in an absolute sense, but more importantly, in a relative sense. That is, when comparing one ball against another.
The Karma Solid has Hook: 120, Length: 100, Breakpoint Shape: 80.
The Misfit has Hook: 110, Length 120, Breakpoint Shape: 90
That says to me, the Karma hooks more, earlier and has a smoother breakpoint.
The Misfit hooks slightly less, has significantly more length and a sharper breakpoint.
When thrown by the same bowler and drilled the same, I think you can take that to the bank.
And by the way, both are solids and both have the same stock finish.
Drilled differently, with different surfaces, you can differentiate them even further.

To be honest, you're rarely going to get a more balanced opinion than the numbers, in this case only, show, because they are generated by people like Billy O, a Brunswick product manager. He is as reliable as clock work when it comes to things like this.
Few bowlers will drill such balls the same just to test their relative reaction.
Brunsnick would be a safe bet. RSalas, a Brunswick staffer, would also one whose opinion I would value, but I'm not sure if he's "allowed" to use any DV8 balls.

I personally have not had the chance to throw both of these balls side by side, but I would be in agreement with what has already been stated. The karma by nature would seem to offer a smoother arc where the misfits would be a little longer and more angular. Also from what I have seen the DV8 balls take very well to surface adjustments. I don't think you can go wrong either way, but get yourself a DV8 and see what they have to offer. The Hell Raiser and Reckless have given me a much different look and shape than I have seen from Brunswick. Plus its fun to be a deviant.
