new ball advice bottom line
« on: February 14, 2013, 09:25:44 AM »
OK, I have a hellraiser and revenge and am looking for a first game ball. A ball that rather than move right and up which messes with my timing I can play the same area I like to play with my revenge when the shot is moderately broken down but still playable with a Fairly aggressive ball. I am a tweener, low revs and speed, but on the fresher shots the revenge isn't close to being enough. Even with my slower speed. the hrr is clearly stronger and less condition specific then the hr which I use sparingly on much lesser challenging shots. they are both polished as i get a much better read from both balls in the polished state. So which ball the brutal or the bn. I watched one video and the nightmare looked about 7 boards stronger, but I have read reviews where they say the opposite. I also was bowling with a guy using a brutal and I was using a taboo that is only one step up in my arsenal from my spare ball. We were playing the same parts of the lane and he did have the ability as the games went on to move deeper and still carry, but I don't want a ball that I can play the same condition with that I play my weakest ball. So which is the best for first game fresh ,anyone.

With you having low ball speed, the Revenge still isnt enough?  It is not like the Revenge is a weak ball.  So it makes me wonder if it is not enough or maybe your lack of ball speed, that the energy has used itself up and dies before it gets to the backend?  It almost sounds like you need a aggressive but polished solid or an aggressive pearl.  What surface do you have on the Revenge?

but on the fresher shots the revenge isn't close to being enough. I think you have a problem...its not the bowling ball!!

The Revenge is a oil ball if there ever was one.

The HRR should easily handle the fresh for you.  It is one of the stronger balls available to play in the fresh.

If it were me in all honesty with the same situation, I would want to either change surfaces or change angles first before looking at a new ball.  For example, the VG Nano didn't work for me OOB but changing surfaces, tweaking angles I was throwing and eventually changing layouts all made it usable.

when was the last time the revenge was rejuvenated? also what wrong with playing straighter on fresh and moving in as the night goes on? if you really want something stronger look at the enigma, defiant soul and sync

I am sorry I must have offered tmi. All I really wanted to know was which ball is better for the heavier shots negate my ball speed and all the issues you may think I have. Whatever they are they exist, but the fact remains that the ball I am using is not strong enough for the shot I am playing on. So if you dont mind someone answer the question that was asked, please, The hrr is polished,it reads better for me in the polished state. Yes i like the ball I shoot very well with it where the shot matches up with it .

Track 912T is an oiler. As are the Storm Sync and Vivid, Roto Grip Defiant and Defiant Soul, Columbia 300 Wicked Encounter and Oath, Both Pursuits by Ebonite, and the Nexxus by Brunswick.

Your HRR is but you should try knocking off the polish on it before hitting the lanes that have a heavier oil on them, or are you looking to buy another heavy oil ball?

You can drill a second HRR with a different layout and keep in with some surface. The nightmare is my favorite ball for high volume in the line.

You can try the HRR at 500 with a little rough buff. Rough buff is an amazing product.
