Just got my samples in on the new stuff due out 01/23/13! Be sure to wear protective lenses when looking at the Misfit, don't want anyone getting hurt!

Misfit Pearl : The house ball that hooks!

Really cool color, looks like a 6lb ball of the rack!

Can't wait to check out the videos.

Brunswick will have a February release... info will be out soon.

Oh man! I have all of two games on my Meanstreak and haven't even drilled the Aura yet!

The core stats look similar to my Gold Rhino Pro. Wonder how those two balls would compare?

Nick, what sort of lighting did you use to take these? Flash or "ambient"?

I'll get to throw these 3 balls Sunday. The new Misfit was designed to be a step down from the original Misfits by request of our Pro Staff and Regional Staff. The Diva is definitely marketed towards the female market, but something tells me the guys will have some fun with this ball as well.

J_Mac,

I take these pictures outside usually towards sunset. Then I black out the background to make the balls pop even more. The pearl in the Misfit is faint, so it would be hard to capture.

I ask because they seem like they are glowing compared to what is posted on DV8's site...  What I saw of the Misfit Pearl there gave me second thoughts on picking one up, but if they are actually that bright I'll reconsider.

They glow out of the box... I'm not sure the process they use to take photos, but they are better suited for print ads.

Could definitely see that.  You can only get so many shades and hues out of CYMK inks before you have to get out the specialized inks.

On edit - Found the videos for the new releases on youtube... Looks like I don't need to worry about the colors.

So how weak is the Misfit Pearl overall?  Anyone went out some low volume pattern burn or toast?  I'm thinking it may be a bit much for toast but is this the piece for tournaments when the lanes tend to scorch up?

Any preliminary reviews yet Nick?
I just made the switch and I'm loving the DV8 stuff right now
(have Nightmare, Madness & 2 Reckless so far, matches up to my game very well).

Sure. All I have bowled on was a modified house on older HPLs, but here goes:

Brutal Nightmare - 40x5x37 with a P1 hole- This ball was a little too much out of box for the condition. It responds very quickly to friction, and there was plenty of it. It forced me too far left to start, so I put it away. I have recently shined it up, just don't know when I'll get to bowl again with my travel schedule.

Diva - 20x5.5x35 with a P1 hole - The best way I describe this ball is a stronger Too Reckless. Super clean, easy midlane traction with a sharp backend. I was able to use this ball for most of the 8 gamer, wasn't squirty through the middle, recovered above average and went through the pins. The colors made it easy to read, so adjustments could be made before trouble happened.

Misfit Pearl - 60x4.5x60 with a P2ish hole - This ball was actually pretty strong when there was enough friction to throw at. In the fresh, it squirted down lane by design. By game 6, this ball was fun to throw. I actually made a 2/1 adjustment off the Diva the first shot, and it went runaway brooklyn. When it sees friction, I've never seen a low end ball make a left turn this hard. I went stronger with this layout because I never see too much burn, but something like a 70x5.5x30 would give it length for days.

Funny on the move with the Misfit from the Diva.  The G/W Misfit, for what I have experienced, is a 2-1 move left from my Marauder.  It is significantly cleaner than the Marauder and thus stores more energy for the backend.  So the 2-1 move left for me is pre-scripted when I choose to throw the G/W Misfit.  Excited to throw the Yellow Misfit as the original Misfits covered a few too many boards for when the lanes were just roasty toasty.

I did not specify... I actually moved right with my feet to square up more and it waved goodbye when it saw the dry.

I figured with your amazing rev rate that, like Nascar drivers only turn left, you only move left.  The Misfits are very sharp off the friction even for a guy like me up the back of the ball.

The Misfit is a very strong ball. It is a lot of ball for the price point. I took the shine off my first misfit to help slow the fast reaction to friction. Knowing how strong the ball was helped adjust the layout I used for my second one.
