Ruckus Surface?
« on: February 05, 2015, 09:11:01 AM »
I just got a used one in excellent condition, bowled 2 full games with it 2 weeks ago, at oob condition, my results, 9 splits, lane condition was medium, ball speed 15-16. Last week put a little brunswick polish, results, only 1 split, but not many strikes. Today when I bowl, I will try it at 2000 pad? From experience, what's been the best surface for you with the Ruckus. I like the way it hit the pocket and the sound, but I have tournaments coming up and would like to get a consistent reaction, what's the best surface?

I have been very happy with the OOB finish on my Ruckus. I just make sure to keep it clean and it's my benchmark ball in my DV8 lineup. I agree that it hits the pocket hard and the solid sound that it makes.

I liked my Ruckus at 1000. It smoothed out the wet/dry better.

How was the ball reacting to make it not to your liking?

Too much back end, or too much hook overall? Not enough of each?

I liked factory surface on my ruckus. However, I also like to put a little surface under almost anything I polish. I like going 500/light polish on many of my med-heavy pieces.

2000 is a good starting point when tweaking the surface. This way you can go up or down if the 2000 doesn't suit your needs.

ok, cool, i will try 2000 first, and mostly probably just need to get more comfortable with it. I have a Maruder for over a year, and I haven't touch the surface, and it rolls great. I don't even know what surface it's at, I just roll with as is, and have success with it, and I brought it used.

Looks like 1000 with polish is the best
