Title: Any New Balls on the Horizon?
Post by: manu57 on May 24, 2006, 06:41:53 AM
Other manufacturers have had some information leaking out for their new line-ups.  Anyone have any Dynothane news? A new CM? 44? anything?

The 44 Magnum came out about two months ago, if that.  The ZR40 was early '06.  I'd like to see another ball with the CM core, but I'm not sure where to put it in the lineup.  There aren't any high-end solid reactives except the TL which is quite old (I love mine), but with the solid/pearl mixes they've got, there doesn't seem to be much missing, reaction-wise.

If it's a "jem" it's probably another Element.  Probably a solid since they are missing that.  I would like to have a less aggressive CM.  My CM is amazing in the first game or so, but I have to put it away once the oil goes because it is just too much ball.

Hey Hulkzone

Flood: Pure Energy
Heavy-Medium: CM
Medium/Benchmark: Vendetta Black
Dry-Medium: Zr40 or Vendetta Pearl

Go find a Vendetta Black.  Best Benchmark Ball Dyno ever made.  They still have some at www.ballcellar.com.  Pure Energy is a great flood ball.  Supposedly the Vendetta Black is not discontinued, but it is hard to find.  I'm starting to stockpile some for myself.

Question for you DT guys.  Why is the TL such an expensive ball?  I've seen on a few sites with discontinued or older stuff (the DT site still lists the TL as a current ball, though) having the high-end stuff (even Energies and later) for $15-20 cheaper than the TL.

Any particular reason for that?  I got a good deal on mine, and I'm very happy with it, but I was curious.

Bowl Expo's in Vegas this year.

BLack Vendetta is a great ball and the 44 Mag is just as good.  I have both and it is a toss up for my benchmark.  Been using the Mag more because I like lower RG equipment.  I laid them out differently, if the Mag is a touch too strong I just grab the Black and go to town.  IMHO both are equally good benchmark material.

discount market is sometimes controlled by availability, the Thing lives is such a good ball not many people want to close it out.

The reason I keep asking is I have a problem.

I have a CM currently as my first ball.  OOB condition drilled Pin under ring 4" from PAP CAP on VAL below PAP.  Ball is absolutly amazing.  Average has gone up over 15 pins last season.  I even won most improved bowler for the league.  Anyway, when the oil leaves the heads and the carry down starts building the ball is too much.  I know it's not meant for that so I pull out a Zone Black ICE drilled 3 3/8 x 5 Pin next to the ring and CG in palm.  This ball gets through the heads, but reacts too aggressively off the dry.  I am a high speed player with medium revs and lower axis tilt.  I was looking at an Energy to replace the Black Ice, but if a Pearl CM comes out I think that might be better.  Would an Energy work?  What drillings would benefit me for my "medium ball".  I stand with the center dot between my feet and throw 16-18 MPH.

 Any suggestions?

I'm curious too.  The driller I've been going to stocks mostly recently-discontinued stuff, whatever he can get for cheap.  I paid $150 for my TL, with grips and a thumb insert.  He even threw the balance hole in for free.

He did try to sell me a Big Deal, said it was a great ball.  Might be true, and I'd've been tempted if he hadn't followed up "great ball" with "I think it'll be discontinued in a few weeks, and two months from now it'll be $40 cheaper."  Not the best sales pitch.

I've been looking for a heavy oil ball. I have a C-Mass but it seems better suited for medium oil. Would the Threshold be a heavy oil ball?

HEY MAJM, If my CM sees any dry, I have to put it away.  You might want to look at the way it's drilled if it is not moving in oil.

What is the surface finish on your C-Mass?
Title: Re: Any New Balls on the Horizon?
Post by: manu57 on June 23, 2006, 07:09:58 AM
A little birdie told me that, sometimes, when a ball comes out of the plant at Storm, the balls don't necessarily have exactly what finish they are suppose to.  My CM was turning when I first bought it, but after the birdie let me in on this, I brought my ball back to my driller and had him quickly hit it with an 800 grit pad and the ball came to life.  I believe, that this brought it to the correct OOB surface.  It is now my Heavy Oil ball.  I thought i was going to have to get a PE also, but it was not necessary.

"Supossedly", because I don't know the process, There are discs that sand the balls or polish the balls.  If they are loose or dulled out, they do not get exactly the finish needed.  Honestly, all I know is after Lonce hit it with 800 the ball is now a rediculous oil monster.  I was a little disappointed when I first got the ball on oil, now I'm looking for something less aggressive. I was hoping for the CM2 to come to the states, but it doesn't look like it will.

a .44 would be a good addition, excellent ball for most any house shot with some oil in the heads. I drilled on last week with a 4 1/2 pin to pap with mb at 75* for a very high average house bwler and it out hooks his Seek and Destroy by 3 boards on a fresh shot. He bowled last night shot 682 but got crushed by my Energy's 728. Ya reading this RR? Nice little set.LOL
