Title: Got a Vendetta Today
Post by: billy2gun on September 05, 2007, 12:04:03 PM
I got my DT Original Vendetta from Leftyhi-trak (LHT) today. Can't wait to get it drilled up in time for league play this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what the ball will do on THS-Christmas Tree pattern. I can't wait to improve as a bowler.

THANKS LHT!!!

Nice!!! The original black vendetta was a very good ball.  Personally I still think the 44 Magnum was a little more versatile for me though.

The original Vendetta was a red and black solid/pearl blend with a polished finish.  The Black Solid came later.

Shelly is correct about the original.  That was a great ball, glad I still have one NIB from the original run.

Shelley,

I'm looking to get my Vendetta drilled today. Should I keep the ball in OOB condition for THS or look to have the pro at the lane tweak the cover?

Thanks for the clarification shelly, for some reason I always thought the black was first.  Either way that Red/Black one was nice as well, but I always prefered the black on polished up for a bit more control.  That's why I like about the 44 so much...skid of a pearl and the control of a solid.

Always throw it first and adjust from there.  You won't know how you like the OOB reaction until you've tried it.  I don't understand the practice of drilling a ball and altering the surface before you've even thrown it; that says to me that you chose the wrong ball.

Though I disagree with the above statement about choosing the wrong ball whole heartedly, definately try it out first if you have no clue what it will do.  I have changed surfaces on many balls before drilling them for customers just to match them to the reaction they want.  The fury was a prime example, I knew that cover surface would not work for my slower ball speed guys, but they wanted a heavy rolling ball that could cut oil and still have a strong arc shape.  Ball at 2000 abralon before we started made a big difference for them and then you never have any chance of deforming the holes in the ball.  We have a machine applicator so its not as big of a deal for us, yet it was simply the better practice to set it up that way IMO

I picked the right ball. I've bowled several games with the Vendetta and I enjoy the ball. Now I must learn to be more consistent, and I have found out that minor changes to the cover could help with the ball doing better on medium oil.

Thanks for your input, I greatly appreciate it.
