Title: Help with reaction....
Post by: GendouIkari on June 01, 2004, 06:12:19 AM
Hi, I own a V2 Pearl and a Black/red Vendetta, since I am using both I have noticed that on fresh medium the Vendetta works well, but when we have some carrydown I have tu use the V2 because the vendetta seems to just pass the breakpoint. But always on the last game, when the oil is kinda gone my V2 starts to react to soon and I have to go with the vendetta... (on the right conditions I can play 18-20 to 10 with a breakpoint on 5-8)

1) Based on this info and my stats on profile, WHY IS THAT HAPPENING???

2) I want to get a ball for medium-heavy because in another center I have to play a very tight line to the pocket... I was thinking about the Element Au79 or a Vendetta particle pearl. (I want to play inside on medium heavy and not outside like I have to do now).

3) Should I keep playing with pearl equipment or should I try solid reactives?? I have found pearls to be very good for me, I had a Complete Chaos! and I really didn't like it... (If I should try solids, then give me some advice for medium-heavy)

I would assume that the Vendetta skids too long on carrydown.  The V2 series has a very low RG, so it wants to roll much sooner.

Nothing wrong with having mostly pearls, but they won't work on all conditions.  Based on what I've read, if you want to play straighter, go with the Vendetta Particle Pearl.  If you want to open up the lane, go with the Element Au79.

There's nothing unusual about the scenario you describe.  On a fresh shot, with dry backends, I usually start with a medium-hooking pearl.  As the oil carries down, I need to go to a ball that will get into an earlier roll to deal with the carrydown.  Then, as the oil dries up in the heads, I go back to the first ball, to get the necessary length down the lane.

Bamaster's Rule o' Thumb:
Throw the ball that maches the oil condition.
Oil condition subject to change.
