Title: Newguy/300 Global question
Post by: MAJM on March 19, 2007, 03:03:07 AM
Do the names of the DT balls get to go with him or no? Not current ones since I assume that Ebonite owns the name but will there be an Element line, Vendetta line, etc.

no clue, send him a pm, he is probablly the only one who would know for sure. I would think the names are gone (Ebonite) since they bought the brand name, could possibly resurface under a diff name in the future.

Phil,

I know it's still early in the formative stages but do you have an approximate timeline for production of a new ball release under the 300 Global banner?

Looking forward to the birth of another great company!

Thanks,
Todd

Core that are not patented are usually fair game for anyone to knock off. many of my core designs are currently being used by other companies, except the one I got patents on.

I'm sure the patent office would have a nightmare if every company tried to patent a new core, or a new coverstock material.

Considering the garbage that the Patent Office gives patents for today, considering the thousands of patents that Microsoft and IBM are awarded (not just apply for) every year, I don't think Brunswick, Storm, or Columbonite would give them a whole lot more work.

Oh, I know, I was being sarcastic. It does surprise me that there aren't more bowling patents than there already are. But then again, you see alot of the same folks moving from company to company. Usually in the Microsoft world, if you move to another company, you probably can't work for a similar company within a certain period of time, or if you do, there are disclosure clauses in the contract, etc.

Probally dependent on scheduling of production where they're being made, not sure if Phil knows an exact date as of yet, my guess would be late May - July just in time for the big shew in Vegas.

So I am to assume that this will be a completely new company, that like in the past has another company, uhh storm or Brunswick or possibly Visionary pouring the covers?  This will also play to the fact that a large part of DYNO business was overseas (guessing from the name)?

One thing I can tell you is that the balls are being poured somewhere. Phil will say when he is ready to have it out.

I hear there's a fairly substantial bowling ball plant in Texas somewhere that's soon to be vacant.

Visionary could do it, though I don't know what their capacity is.  They're already making balls for Insite and Banger, and DT is comparable in size to Visionary, if not larger.  My guess is that if he doesn't have Ebonite do it, he'll go back to Storm.

I'm not sure Storm has the capabilities to produce more equipment, now they have to make their own Jolt and Tropical line, thus buying the equipment to do so a few weeks ago. I'm thinking a ball with southwest flavor, but don't quote me on this.

You are right...but there's no harm to try and guess where they're being poured!

maybe Carl will let the cat out of the bag, then again maybe not. Might have to wait until Phil lets the tiger out of the lunch sack.

Much to Phil's chagrin, waiting for his official word has never been popular here.  Wild speculation is what we do here.
