Longevity.  I have a Thing Returns, 2+ years old, rarely clean it, still reacts the same as it did when it was new.

Soaker is an additive in the coverstock that adds duribility to the cover, makes it more durable, last longer and requires less maintenance. The trade mark so to speak for the D/T ball line up.

Well stated tekneek  nothing matches the durability of soaker coverstocks.
PS thanks for informative talk on the phone last week, looks like I was to late to get one of the NGS you had.

SOAKER! MUST BE SOMETHING NEW COMPARED TO THE "OLD SCHOOL" I THINK IT WAS COLUMBIA 300 A "CARMEL" COLORED BALL. SOMEONE FOUND OUT AND CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO "SOAK" A BOWLING BALL IN A CHEMICAL CALLED "MEK" AND IT WOULD SOFTEN UP THE SHELL OF A BALL  USUALLY UNDER THE 72"D" SCALE, THIS BALL WOULD HOOK ON A TON OF OIL?

that was done long ago to soften the cover to help make a urethane hook, sometimes refered to as acetone, ingredient in finger nail polish remover.

Technically speaking,
I thought Don McCune (?) used MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) to soften those White Dots.
Acetone is also known as Methyl Ketone.

AH YES OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW, I GOT A GOOD LAUGH AT THE GUY POSTING AN ORIGINAL 14 LB BLACK FABALL HAMMER. I SAW MY LAST "SOAKER" ERA LATE 70,S ABOUT THE TIME I GOT MY FABALL FROM JACKS HOUSE IN OHIO. HE WAS MAKING THEM IN HIS BASEMENT. I MUST BE OLD?

"Soaker" in the 1970s has a meaning totally different from the DT "Soaker" coverstocks in their recent balls.
