Thing versus Threat
« on: June 02, 2004, 07:16:10 AM »
I suspect this has been discussed in the past but given our inability to reference posts before January here it goes.

I know the cores our virtually the same but how do they compare in reaction.  I realize the obvious like coverstock differences but I am curious how these balls react side by side.  If anyone has experience with both I would be interested in hearing your insights.

Thanks

I had each at one time. Both are very good balls, but they gave me a totally different look on the lanes.

The Threat was a little longer and a little more tame on the backends. They both hit very well. The THING was stronger at the breakpoint, and was able to handle more oil. It would even cut through carrydown pretty well.

OVERALL I would take the THING over the Threat. It offers better overall performance, and the coverstocks both seem to hold up well, but the soaker on the THING was the best version of the soaker I have tried.

BTW---both had very simliar layouts.

Thanks, could I also add a Triple Threat into the mix?

The Triple Threat is just a few boards stronger than the THING. They make a very similiar move off of the breakpoint, and they both hit about the same.

I do not think it would be necessary to have both, unless you were to add surface to the TT. If you were to take it down to like 800 grit wet sand then it would out hook the THING. You would see that simply because of particle vs reactive.
