Can Bamaster or Phil help?
« on: October 06, 2003, 08:07:33 PM »
Hello, D/T experts.
i presently have a storm power charge that has lasted me 6 days before the pin and bridge darn near cracked to pieces, so i'm going to go to my distributor to get a replacement ball. Dynothane has caught my attention with the soaker resin and simple but effective core designs. My cracked charge was drilled 5x3 with my pap located at 4.5 inches and 1 over my pin being directly over my bridge. reaction was great on a typical wall dry outside 7 to 7 and heavy oil in the middle.

I'm thinking either Thing with same drill pattern? something to give me not extreme length or snap but med length with continous roll on the backends like my charge had. My charge was able to cover all kinds of mediums for me and get past the head well.

Thanks. Tim, Rosebowl Proshop.

Tim, I'm no D/T expert, but I would think it would be close. The PC has a lower RG and similar diff, so drilled the same, I'm not sure if you'll see a ton of difference.  The PC will technically start earlier, but it's got a pearlized cover, the Thing is a half solid half pearl, so they may offset eachother.....all in all, I don't think they'd be THAT different.

Put it this way.....there would be no use for both balls in an arsenal..for me at least........

Tim, of Dynothane's current offerings, I would probably go with the Thing.  I wouldn't drill it 5x3, however.  I'd dull it slightly and do something more like a label leverage or put the pin below the ring at about 4 and get a ball with a pin distance that allows you to set the CG below and slightly to the right for a 4x3 drill.

I see the time Phil posted, he was prolly ready for his afternoon nap.  I think you should consider the Vendetta Black.  Maybe a 4x4 layout with some shine.

I'm really beginning to like this ball a lot.  It's exactly a "medium" ball all across the board. It's very responsive to the layout... read: versatile. And the coverstock accepts polish very well, which makes the ball even more versatile.

The ball will read the midlane enough to give you a read as to what is out there.  If you play the dry, it'll hook.  Play the oil, it'll hold.  My pro shop guy, who is on Storm staff, is selling a lot of these not because they are asking for Dyno-thane, but because it seems to fit so many people's needs. People want a ball they can use on more than one type of condition.  The Vendetta Black is a great introduction to the DT line, in my humble opinion.  Give it a layout you are confident in and have had success with... WHAMMO! You've got yourself a ball you'll keep in your bag. Add to the fact that the ball is so dern inexpensive, it's a no brainer.

My recomendation is to get the Vendetta Black.  I'll wager you'll like it enough to get a Vendetta Particle when you want a big arcing ball... or the THING when you want a little more length and a little more pop... or the THING RETURNS when you want even more skid and flippy reaction... hence an arsenal you'll be competitive (and happy) with.

K, thanks bamaster and phil and the others it's very much appericated.

I have seen the thing in action and the black ven as well, and both impressed me. I'm going to try to get the vendetta solid, because of the reviews i've seen on it and as well, i can get it straight up for the charge, rather than have to pay a difference.
