THING LIVES VERY GOOD
« on: August 26, 2004, 07:57:15 AM »
For those of you that have been waiting. The thing lives is a winner for me.
While Ilike the thing and the thing returns. I have always thrown the vendetta line because of the match up capabilities for my style.

The main difference I notice between the thing and thing lives is the recovery. I had more roll and recovery with the same drills. The lives was able to get through the heads with a great mid lane-to back reaction for this particular house condition. I will throw about 18 more games and polish to see the differences.

I know Phil,  don't say it you either Billy
but the main differences I notice as well as our dedicated house bowler was the carry of the thing lives compared to the thing....If everything holds up as I expect this will be a ball that doesn't need many surface changes. Lets face it the surface of the ball is 70% of the game... don't match it...can't play it..

keep up the work guys..

BTW The shot was a 40ft house shot with mid to heavy inside...light out with ob outside 3..and mild carry down once we hit it!!

Dyno D.  are you saying this ball is more agressive
than my THING, I am in the  market for a med/dry
condition ball any recommendations on the THING RETURNS,
 or something from the VENDETTA line.  A friend mentioned
the new Vendetta Pearl.  Comments?

bowlme,
it is always hard to recommend a ball without know bowler specifics.
Yes the thing lives has more movement than the thing. But for that medium/dry condition (depending on your game) you may be better suited with the Vendetta line. The black vendetta seems to be the most veratile ball by DT.

Inorder or preference. I would go vblack, p vendetta, then PP vendetta.

What you want to look at is if you go V Black you will have to do some surface prep in order to tone the ball down and get length. How do you match up to pearls? and do you have any reserve issues about particle?

Sounds weird I know...But if you are already holding back with the mind then you will not give a ball a fair chance!!!

I drilled up two and managed a few practice games. I tested this ball so I knew what to expect, and the drillings I wanted...one is 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 high pin no x-holes, and the other is a drill I've be experimenting with that I'm liking more and more, 3 1/2 x 5, with the pin outside the ring finger. Both balls have a distinct hard, heavy roll, that picks up it's energy early in the mid-lane, and has a great continous power-move through the pins. The lanes hadn't been dressed all day, so I had to play deep with both balls, and with the box surface this was tough, and neither would be my ball of choice on that shot,..but both balls performed well, and the high pin did give me added length to be able to get the ball down the lane and still corner with POP..The low pin ball (naturally) had a tendency to read the lane too early from inside the 4th arrow, but still managed to strike on good shots. The low pin ball would be best used on a little more oil, where I could square up with fresh backends. This ball moves to the top of the "Thing" family for most powerful. I'll give them both a going-over this weekend at a tournament and report back. So far they are all I expected they would be,..and more...jim

The lives certainly has an interesting core...

The flip block of the Element;
The inner core of the thing;
The outer core(half) of the Cure.

tempo,....just went to bbr to see the Cure, and I don't understand your description....I thought I would once I saw the Cure core, but,...I don't...

Scott/Jeff,...when they give us a ball(s) to test, at least when "other guy" sends them to me,..he tells me to just drill it with my favorite drill and throw it on as many different conditions as I can. Then I send him a full report, then they take all the reports form all the testers and compare the results. He and Phil also test the balls, with all that feedback I think they then determine if they have what they are looking for or not...I really like the way the "Thing Lives" came out. I looking forward to using them this weekend on some oil. jim

You got promoted?   I'm still on fries.

I plan on getting the website updated today.  Check sometime after lunch, kiddos.  Waiting for approval of the design.

Bamster,...the reason for the delay in your clearance,..so I've heard,..and this is just the rumors, so don't quote me on this,..but there seems to be  a problem with your...ah,.....paperwork.  je.
