Ball Comparison

I am really thinking about getting a threshold and i was wondering how it compares to the energy. Some help guys. thanks HC

They are two totally different bowling balls.  The energy was more of a medium oil skid / "flip" kind of a ball, while the Threshold is a beast in oil (out of the box).  I would compare the Threshold more against the Pure Energy, but it has more backend.

Plus you're comparing a polished pearl resin with a symmetric core to a 1000 grit sanded pearl particle with a strong Mass Bias/PSA core.

The basic ball design paramters tell you the Energy is a medium-light to medium oil ball, while the Threshold is a medium-heavy to heavy oil ball, UNLESS you change their surfaces.

While some house oil patterns may allow the same bowler to use these balls, in general, it would be difficult to use one if the other is working properly on a house shot, given both drilled the same.

like comparing a grape and a watermelon.
The Energy is an excellent ball for med to med heavy depending on the amount of hand you have. Strong midlane roll with a strong angular backend depending on the layout. The Threshold is best suited for heavier oil or longer patterns, strong from beginning to end with a ton of recovery. If you do not have plenty of head oil you will not be able to use the Threshold without adjusting the cover.

IMO the strongest ball D/T has produced.

I agree with Goof.  It will start up sooner like the PE, compared to the Energy, but because of it being Pearl will have more snap than the PE on the backend.

Alright thanks guys. I do have a PE too and the ball revs up pretty quickly in the mid lane with a strong arc. I bowl on multiple sport leagues both putting out 50 and 52 foot patterns so i was hoping the threshold would do the job
