Polishing The Thing....
« on: June 11, 2003, 10:24:17 PM »
I recently polished up my Thing and now the ball doesn't react the same. I get a lot of over/under now..The ball seems to skid past the break point and never recover...before polishing the ball it was a beast and would recover no matter where I threw it...has anyone else had this problem..i thought if I threw it enough I would wear away the polish and the ball would come back to life...I have yet to see it react the same..how can I get it back to the way it reacted out of box? I know it came polished but not highly polished like i have it now....any sugesstions? T3 or New Guy please help!

Thanks T3...that just the answer I wanted to hear....Does the Thing just not like to be highly polished? My Thing tracked up pretty quick thats why I polished it up...I'll try your suggestions tonight..

Thanks,
Mike

Neo-Tac's Liquid Sandpaper does a great job of removing polish.  If it then looks too dull, use Renew-It to add back a little shine.  Great one-two combo, in my opinion.

I had a similiar sounding problem with my THING. I used a cleaner on the ball and it dulled it so I polished it up. The ball was good as long as it had dry backends but it was nowhere near what it was.

I wet sanded it with a green scotch brite pad (600 grit) and then used Track Clean n Sheen evenly over the entire surfact. Perfect, exactly how it acted when I first got the ball.
FYI-I use Track Clean n Dull on all of my equipment and it has never dulled the surface of any polised ball I have used it on.
