LANE CONDITION

Length:

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):House Shot

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball is the perfect compliment to the original Omni. In the original, it was a great ball to start out with when the lanes were a little slick. It is something that I know will hook and I will have know problem getting it to slow down. When I had to move left, it would use all it's energy too soon and corners became a problem. This is where the new Hybrid came into play. I say it is the perfect compliment because when I made that move left, the ball never quit! it saves the perfect amount of energy down lane and goes through the pins. It seemed like I could have moved an infinite amount left, and it would never quit. In the bowling world, that is a VERY GOOD sign!

Dislikes:none

LANE CONDITION

Length:

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  THS

COMMENTS  On a THS this ball is very strong thru the backend with a continuous roll. It is a very good complement to the original Omni.

Likes:  Strong ball on a house shot.

Dislikes: The ball does not really like oil. It has to see some kind of friction in order to perform well.

It's review time!  We were able to get these all shot just before our area was put under lockdown.
First up, the new Ebonite #OMNIHybrid.  This ball has some serious performance for a "mid" ball.

Agree with tbpro675.  I've thrown this on a 40' THS on somewhat low-friction lanes.  The Omni Hybrid is great on the fresh and after a defined breakpoint has been created, as it does a great job kicking out corner pins on some questionable pocket hits when used in those conditions.  It's a good ball for dealing with over/under conditions where you can just bounce it off the dry since it's very continuous and won't over-react off the dry.  However, it's not so great in transition or if the lanes are a little trashed.  Since it's a little oil-allergic, it gets squirrely if the pattern isn't well-defined.  You might not lose the pocket completely, but it can be difficult to control entry angle so carry can get very weird.  This might be different on wood/high-friction or with some surface on the ball.  I've thrown the Omni Hybrid at 4000, but it didn't really solve the issue.  A little more surface might do the trick, though I can't say that for sure.  Overall, it feels like a ball that can be fantastic on the right conditions, but very sensitive to what's going on with the oil.

Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
