Aggression Update.

Used this ball in the Hoeike Classic this weekend in Cincinnati at Western Bowl.  Western Bowl has synthetic lanes and on Saturday for the singles @ 3:00 we were  one of several squads to bowl after the lanes had been oiled. Shot 946 scratch in singles(4 games sweeper) with a 300 in the first game followed by a 143(ugh lost focus) 224(refocused) and a 279 last game (XXXXXXXX9/XXX--Stone 8 pin in the 9th).  Ball reaction was excellent standing on 24 playing 15 to 7 and back like a train.

Shot 672 in team(sweeper) this afternoon with 257-214-201(Opened in the 10th 2nd and 3rd games--to be honest this old man ran out of gas)I believe we were the second squad since the lanes were oiled.  Only real negative shots in the (7) games were (2) 7-10 splits from balls I threw out to far on the lane.  Had a total of only 4 10 pins(1 weak and 3 ringers) in 7 games.

By far the Ebonite Apex line of balls is a solid 10 in this bowlers book!

We have drilled over 100 of these balls so far.  Everyone that loved the Apex Adrenaline, and is looking for more hook, should pick up this ball.

The Apex Aggression is as clean through the heads as the Apex Adrenaline, but can handle more oil than the Adrenaline.  Both Apex Adrenaline and the Apex Aggression rev up in the mid lane and give you strong backend pop.

The Aggression is one of the best overall heavy oil balls on the market today, and a true asset to a bowler's bag.  It has to be the strongest overall ball in the Ebonite line.

I have not seen a person not throw this ball great yet. Due to the fact it has so much more control than my freak it is my opener for sport shots, or any shot where control is more important than big backend. Besides the off the chart movement and arc of this ball...it is just so smooth, i can not believe it. I honestly feel it carries better than any heavy oil ball i have seen because of it not over reacting. This is deffinately an asset for a sport shot.

what a ball for oil! this ball box finish is strong and hits very hard. there has to be moderate oil or bag it. my only complaint is with the color schem of the ball its sort of hard to read going down the lane. mine is a 15 3 oz top weight and drilled fullroller. u can swing the ball with confidence its comming back and i had very little problems with carry if i hit my mark. ill give it a 9 great going ebonite it fits good in my arsenal with the adrenaline and the stinger low flare pearl

I got my Aggression in a trade from a fellow ball reviewer. I did not change the drilling, just moved the thumb. The ball cover is in factory box condition. With this drilling the ball does not hook very much, and it does not really overreact, it is a smooth and continuous arc. I have huge ball speed so for someone at 17mph or even slightly higher this ball is definately an oiler. But for me, it is not quite as much as my Adrenaline. It hits just as hard if not harder than the Adrenaline and seems to roll up a little sooner. If I had bought this ball new and applied a slightly more aggressive drilling I would probably say it may be the best ball in the Ebonite line. I am very happy with it and it definately would fit into anyone's arsenal.
I give it a very solid 9 out of 10.

Let me start off by saying that I hate this ball.  Looking back on it the Apex line is just not a good fit for me and my game.  I drilled this one very aggressive 3 3/8 stacked w/ the pin to the right of my ring finger.  For me this ball is squirrly, one shot it makes a good move to the pocket and the next ball it floats.  I've seen other people throw one w/ great success.

Aggression Follow Up:

Rolled another 300 Monday 12/23 with this ball and except for coming out of the shot two times in the first and second games this was my most consistent three games ever.  The ball is drilled with the #2 drilling per Ebonite specs is 15# and it read the break point in the lanes perfectly and since it is drilled to roll and hook early I just kept it in the oil for more skid prior to roll.  Three games were 238-253-300=791.

Have read some negative reviews on the Aggression, but if you want this bowlers opinion you had better not be without the Apex aggression in your bag!

Okay, I HATED this ball when I first got it. I was upset because I bought a ball i was thinking it was going to be a hook monster & a heavy oiler. This is not that ball. Unfortunatly I dont have the luxury of being able to buy many balls, so I had to give this one a chance. I can say I am pleased that I did.

This ball does not hook a bunch, in actuality my game pearl will hook more than this ball at times. That being said this ball has a very consistant reaction & doesn't overreact like my Game Pearl has a tendancy to. Spotty carrydown does not affect this ball one bit. Dont look for a big left turn into the pocket, this ball doesn't make drastic moves like that, it's always a very even arc.

The magic of this ball is playing the inside line. On medium conditions when everyone is swinging the ball really wide, play this ball just inside the 3rd arrow right in the oil & you will like the results.

I would encourage people who are considering this ball to look at the shot ebonite has listed on their website as it's the shot that this ball likes to play & the one I have described above:
http://www.ebonite.com/prodeboape.cfm

As far as the dry heads comment goes, this ball will roll WAY too early if you dont have oil in the first 15 feet of the lane. As i said earlier, simply more your feet a few boards over & play in the middle of the lane where oil can usually be found.

If you are looking for a ball to play a flood or to swing out wide & make a left hand angle into the pocket, dont buy this ball. If you're looking for an ultra consistant performer on medium to heavier conditions, I would say that the Aggression is a very viable selection.

Overall, I feel that many of the people who've posted hating this ball just never spent enough time working with it. This ball is not the Game-in-a-box so many people are looking for these days. You will need to learn how to use the Aggression, it can't be coerced into a style it doesn't want to play. However once you listen to the ball & learn to work with it instead of forcing it to do something it doesn't want to.......magic happens.

OK maybe you'll think I'm nuts.  I already have one Aggression and have rolled (2) 300's in the last 4 months with it. Yesterday I traded my 2001 Hammer which was a good ball for dry lanes, which I never see, for another Aggression and some $$ to boot.

This ball had no more than 9 games bowled on it and is drilled with ebonite #4 drilling for a delayed reaction and a strong breakpoint.  This ball has a slightly longer span than my others by about 1/4' so I have to reach for the thumb hole after I put my fingers in the ball, but not to a point that it is uncomfortable.

OK, first time using the ball on fresh oil 36' after stripping the wood lanes(Kegal strip/Oiler).  First game getting the feel of the ball playing 15 to 8 and back, but the ball is going real long before it turns and I mean turns hard!  Shoot 216.

Second game getting the feel of the ball and it seemed like I could go as far right of target as I wanted and it came back hard.  Had the first 11 and a ringing 10(shot was a little flat) on the 12 ball for 299.

Third game was a nice comfortable 205 for a nice 720 series.

Folks this Apex line of balls is this bowlers only choice in balls.  See they are bringing out the Apex "Addiction" and you can probably guess who's going to get one.LOL

this is a ball that is to be used on nothing but oily lanes.
this ball did nothing but roll and slide and when it tried to hook it couldn't recover.  and on dry lanes it hooked to much.  on a scale of 1-10 i give it a 4

This ball is absolutly horrible!!! Worked great for about first 30 games...then loses everything.  Tryed resurfacing, only to lose the little bit of reaction I had left in it.  It gets a 1 out of 10, only because I did manage a couple high 600s with it.

Drilled - Pin below ring finger, Cg kicked out in the thumb quadrant, X-hole in the thumb quadrant. Pretty strong drill. No surface adjustments.

This is the strongest ball in my arsenal. This ball rolls great on the longer patterns we bowl on in PBA tournaments. Ball lopes slightly thru the fronts and makes a strong move on the backend. Carry is good as long as theres still a significant amount of oil. Great ball for fresh, long pattern conditions.

Lots of total hook, has limited use but it definitely fills the 'strong' ball niche in the arsenal.

I had an aggression for about two weeks and I am going to be quite honest that this is probably one of the worst rolling, reacting, hitting, and dissapointing ball I have ever owned.  For a high price ball I could not believe it.  I have owned 50 dollar bowling balls better than this one.  It was supposed to hook.  It didnt hook.  It was supposed to hit.  It didnt hit.  It simply would not hook on oil and would not hit on any condition, oil or not.
And I am not saying this to bash on ebonite, because I love ebonite.  That is pretty well all I will throw.  However, they did not impress me with this issue.  In my opinion, save your money, and buy something else.

I am a 18 year old bowler who has been bowling for 10 years. I average 210. i needed to update my equipment, so i bought the Aggression. This ball is the best ball that i have thrown in a long time. I have the balled drilled the new "mass bias" drilling. the ball is suppose to go down the lane and hook hard on the backend. This it does very well. I would rate this ball a 9 out of 10. i would strongly suggest buying this ball. As i like to say it "It hits the pocket like a Mack Truck"
