After drilling a Clash, and assessing the price-point Ebonite has placed the ball in, all I have to say is WOW!

The Clash combines all the success of balls like the Cross Fire and Whirl Wind with extreme continuation through the back end and great hitting power! Bowlers will get the reaction and look of a Platinum Series ball through one of the lower-price points Ebonite has to offer.

The Clash is extremely clean through the front and middle part of the lane, but when this ball sees friction on the back end it takes control. It provides bowlers with a more-traditional “skid / flip” reaction despite the strong coverstock. I have found this ball to be great on house patterns or when the front part of the lane is a little dryer and with a modification to my speed or hand position. Comparing the Clash to the Bash, they are very similar in the fronts and middle, however, the Clash “tips” much harder then the Bash when friction is met down the lane. Despite how strong this ball is, it is still not a huge fan of heavy units of oil. I would suggest using this ball on medium to lower oil patterns.

I got this ball drilled about mid season, it works good for me on dry conditions.  It has a great backend to it and goes a little longer than the angular one on dry conditions. I recommend this ball when the lanes break down toward the end of the day.

This review is for the Teal and Blue 2008 Clash. Ive thrown this ball for about a month now. Drilling is basic. CG in palm and pin right in between the bridge and slightly above. Its a 4-5 inch pin...very stable drill. All i can say so far is that i am pretty impressed by this ball. The hittin power is VERY GOOD. You get really nice pin action with this ball, even light hits send the head pin richocheting all over the place. I have primarily been using this ball on a wood surface. On a synthetic surface you get a lil more length with the same nice aggressiveness in the back. This ball can be used from very light-medim paterns to medium oily conditions. The smooth light bulb core not too aggressive coverstock and the fact that its polished get this baby down the lane, but with the layout i have it can roll a lil early if you dont throw this ball. It has a nice symmetric roll and aggressive motion to the pocket, similar to the Columbia Momentum i have. I definitely think this is a ball that you could even start out with in league. Need more length drill a smaller higher pin so she gets down the lane. I doubt anyone who drills this ball will be disappointed.

I have yet to try this ball on any PBA Patterns but after i saw my ball driller Rich Jacobson throw it and score well on all the PBA patterns except the Shark i knew this ball was special. Its also rumored that the coverstock of the Clash is the old one coverstock or a blend of some sort. I wouldnt doubt that either. Don't sleep on this ball.

I got this ball from a friend and redrilled it and first used it on a broken down house shot playing 35 to 15 shot 268, 259, 260 for a 787 series with the first three games on it. The ball turns perfectly off the break point and when you have 450 revs, this ball hits hard. This ball is perfect for a entry level bowler just learning how to hook it or is just as effective for an expert that wants a drier lane ball. Highly reccommended.

COMMENTS

Likes: Good carry

Dislikes: Ball was very over/under.  Very touchy off dry, no recovery in oil!  Tried coverstock changes and 3 different drillings with overall same reactions.
