I rolled this hook monster at Bowlnanza at Smyrna, Tennessee and you'll definitely need oil for this ball. It gets down the lane fairly easy with a strong midlane and big backend, which is a welcome reaction if your looking for a heavy oil ball. Kegel had just did a demo with one of their new lane machines, so there was a fresh shot available with plenty of oil. If you bowl on oil look no further than the NVD! Just my $.02, Bruce

Just lay-ed out 2 of these and I am very pleased with the results of this ball. Put a 5" pin out with a 80 degree MB and I thought it would lay off just a little but this ball just keeps on turning, it even gets through the mid-lane when they are burned up a little. This core combo is going to take Ebonite places as they really match each other great, the ball has great recovery from any angle on the lane but doesn't burn up so much energy it leaves flat pins.

If your looking for a great hooking ball that refuses to quit and can deal with it hooking this one is for you.

I'm impressed and I thought they had exceeded themselves last year.

I put a 5" from my PAP with a 45 degree MB and put the pin a little below my ring finger the ball is purely awesome with hitting power. The light hits blow out the pocket. The ball seems to get close to the head pin and carry the strikes this core and cover stock is an excellent match up for this ball, the ball has great recovery from any angle on the lane and doesn't burn up so much energy as it gets down the lane. I started out with this and threw games of 226,279,269 and wasn’t really throwing the ball good, however it just kept carrying the strikes where ever I threw the ball toward the pocket.

This is the strongest ball I have ever thrown. I'm surprised how much it moves on the backend of the lane. Probably will be a tournament-only ball for me, as I think on a typical house shot in league play, it will be too strong.

I have had the NVD for about 2 months now and all i can say is wow!!
This ball just keeps on performing, I have been averaging 220 for the last 6 weeks and it doesn't involve any hard work just put the ball out and it will do all the work for you.I have had all of the NV and the gamebreaker range and think it is on a level par with the Total NV which was amazing, And to top it off i got my first 300 with the NVD,I think this is one of the best balls ebonite have produced.

I just want to thank ebonite for creating this monster! I average a 200-210 on regular house shot , I have never had an honor score in 21 years of bowling (practice or league). My first night with this ball I rolled 211-300-234!! 745 series!! This ball hits harder than anything i have ever seen! Thank you ebonite!!!!!

BALL SPECS
Pin Length -4"
Starting Top Weight - 3.0
Ball Weight - 15lb

DRILL PATTERN
Pin Over Ring CG At 45' Angle to Grip Center
X Hole - Small Hole on Axis to keep sideweight down

BOWLER STYLE
Rev Rate - rev dominant
Ball Speed - 15ish

SURFACE PREPARATION
Grit - OOB
Type (Matte, Polish, Sanded) - 4000 abralon sanded

LANE CONDITION
Length - good
Volume - heavy
Type (Wall, Xmas Tree, Sport) - THS

BALL REACTION
Length - fair amount of length for a heavy oil ball left in OOB condition
Back End - very strong arc. Can play up the track early and move in once it breaks down.
Overall Hook - Not the biggest hooking ball on the marked, but this would be a great heavy oil ball for most players.
Midlane Read -moderate
Breakpoint Shape - Arc

COMMENTS
Carry - excellent, left very few corners
Likes - Handles oil well, good 1st ball out for heavier THS
Dislikes - None at the present time

The NVD has impressed me as a very good heavy oil ball. You should have no problem getting this one to hook. I am able to use it on THS fresh shot without any issues. Thanks to Nova for drilling and Damon at Ebonite!

Sarge Easter Grips w/IT thumb. 15lb. with a 3.5 inch pin. Drilled this one pin above bridge with the mb 1.5" right of my thumb. OOB this ball rolls nice and early and has a smooth controlable backend reaction. I took this ball down to 2000 abralon in order to handle some of the heavier conditions i will encounter. But it will still have that control on the backend that makes this ball awesome. Big thanks to Monty Stratton at Bowlers Depot Oceanside.

Layout of NVD:
http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq98/marc_kingpin/105.jpg

Bowler's Spec:
5 1/4" PAP
15-16 mph
Medium rev rate
Right Handed

The NVD has a very stong midlane motion and lot of backend for those fresh oil patterns. I first sanded it down to 1000 grit abralon (dull)since my main objective with this ball would be a starter in my league and tournaments. It does handle heavy oil well though keeping it close to the pocket at breakpoint with slower ball speed is a must. The low RG gets the ball rolling much sooner than previous balls I've had in the past (except for the Columbia300 EPX-T1). With this finish, I played it straight up the 10-12 board and it recovers very nicely on the backend with devestating effect on the pins. This would be the ideal surface for touraments that uses the longer oil patterns like the PBA Shark.

I've also tried it at 2000 grit abarlon (dull)and was able to play a little more to the left without it burning up too soon from the lower grit. I can play it anywhere from the 12-17 board to about the 5 board at breakpoint and it will still recover with ease to the pocket. It's very user-friendly with adjusting hand position and point of angularity. I nearly like this surface better because I can play with this ball abit longer without it rolling out past the pocket and the backend reaction is ridiculously insane in a very good way.

How do I rate this ball: 9/10
Simply an amazing ball that I believe was under the radar because of the "coverstock death" on the NV lines. I have around 80+ games on it and it's still going strong without a problem. Nice going, Ebonite with making a great ball that bumped my average up 4 pins from last year.

Picked up this one on a flyer from eBay.  It was a left handed drill with low mileage, so basically I had a new track to work with anyway. Ball is drilled with the pin under the ring finger, about a 3" pin.  I am a stoker, bordering on a tweener, that usually likes to play down and in.

In my transition to 15 lb. stuff, I have tried an number of heavy oilers, but this one is the best so far.  I only recently pulled this one out as my league shot has become quite a bit more oily for some reason.  The last couple weeks I started with this one and it is great.  Churns through the oil and hits very hard on the backend.  Does not roll out and seems to carry exceptionally.  The first game last night resulted in a 268, with the first six buried.

My one piece of commentary is that as soon as you see the heads going away, the ball starts hooking right off the hand.  You need to be careful to spot that, otherwise you are probably guaranteed a split or two before you put it away.  The way I have it drilled is probably not great for swinging it and bringing it when the lanes break down.  For the first and second games of a fresh shot for me, it is money.

I have heard rumours of this ball dying eventually and will post again if I experience any of that.

I have had my nvd for a couple of years now and its still the strongest ball I have had. I have had a cell,vg,mutant cell, mission, mega recovery,,920a,mean machine and lastly a bank. The bank may be stronger, but its not as user friendly. I hadn't been using it because i thought it had died, but because I have been struggling so with new stuff I decided to go in the closet.
I have shot it on the two most challenging shots i face and it has shown itself to be head and shoulders above every thing else I have been trying. I am still struggling, but its not the ball. I know what ball to go to when everything else is sliding and I can even play it for the full set and I am usually changing 3 or 4 times during a set trying to find the right look. Carry, recovery, forgiveness, versatility, readability for my money its the nvd for heavier shots.
