I bowl in a 4 game trios league and after about game 3 the lanes see a huge transition. Having said that, the Ebonite Legacy gives me the ability to create more angle through the fronts allowing the ball to have a strong recovery down lane.
This ball fits nicely with my Ebonite Source but definitely has a stronger angular motion down lane. GREAT addition to your arsenal if you're looking for a ball that you can trust to recover and still go THROUGH the pins.

What a great addition to the Ebonite line. If you own the Source, then The Legacy is the perfect complement ball. This hybrid cover was wrapped around the original, and predictable Total NV core.
I recently drilled this ball before a local 6 game, 5 man team tournament, and this ball performed excellently. The down lane motion was noticed by many and desired by all. The specs for the layout are 65x 4 1/2x 30, and I finished it with a 3000 abralon.
If you are an entry level bowler and are looking to purchase a new ball, and the "High-End" equipment might be too much ball for what you are looking for, then The Legacy is what you need. For the tournament bowler, remember when Ebonite brought back the Vortex, and the One? They reintroduced them for a reason, it was because they had very desirable ball motions. This ball has that motion everyone wants, strong and predictable. Its time to build your Legacy!

This ball is well named as it will be around for a long time. The Legacy has great length with strong back end reaction making it a bit stronger than the source. I throw the ball with slower speed (about 14) and love how well and clean it travels through the front of the lanes. I can't wait to drill more of them for myself and so should you.

Coverstock on the Legacy was aggressive enough to allow the ball to strongly turn the corner off the back of the pattern. Layout was 50 by 4.5 by 35, with no balance hole. The Legacy definitely has the high revving motion of the Total NV, but with a coverstock that can handle more oil. This layout and box cover combo was almost too sharp for a freshly conditioned THS pattern and was too much for the WTBA Sydney pattern last week. Legacy is Ebonite's stronger compliment to the Source and this ball should be one of the best releases of this season. Lower rev rate/speed dominant players could really get good value out of the Legacy.

I drilled my Legacy 35*4*30 with no balance hole. This ball is the perfect compliment to the Pivot. It's cleaner through the heads and a little more length, and holy cow!!! BACKEND!!! It opens up the lane like nothing I've seen. It continues through the 8 pin and destroys racks!!! It works good even on heavier oil patterns in which I frequently encounter. This ball is versatile enough that any bowler could find a place for it in their arsenal!! I can't wait to use it again!! Great job Ebonite!!

Very impressive product. Legacy is a ball that will fit in almost any bowlers bag. Slower speeds will have no trouble clearing the front and be amazed with the backend reaction. Higher ball speeds will be able to loosen up their swing and just let it go with the confidence they will have that this ball is going to make it back to the pocket. Color scheme and backend reaction will give medium speed medium rev players a feeling that they are throwing it faster with more revs then their other equipment. This ball fits perfectly and completes a super 3 ball bag for all the Ebonite fans this season. Source-Pivot-Legacy would be a lineup that covers almost everything for the tournament or league bowler.

This is by far one of the best balls that has come out in some time from Ebonite. Clean through the front of the lane with great midland lane roll and one of the most aggresive backend moves ever. Pins stay low as the ball explodes each rack. Right now the Ebonite line up of the Pivot, Source and now The Legacy are very hard to beat. This is my go to ball on my fresh league condition and even the ball I begin my late league with. Now is the time to take you game to another level and start your own LEGACY. #BowlitForward

The Ebonite Legacy..
I drilled my legacy to compliment the 2 Ebonite sources I have...my first source I drilled 60x5x40...this source is very clean thru the front and makes a nice continuous move on the back...I wanted the legacy to be a little stronger off the spot...using the same layout as the source the legacy is makes a stronger move off the spot and hits very well....it is a notch stronger in my arsenal than my source which was exactly what I was looking for.... a must have in everyone's arsenal!!!!!#bowlitforward!

Likes: The thing I'm most impressed with the Ebonite Legacy is how clean through the front and the continuation through the pins with the different layouts that I've thrown. Shinny or dull, slick or med pattern, THS or sport pattern, this is the ball out of my bag first.

This ball is a must have if you are looking for a ball when the lanes are broken down!!! This ball clears the heads nicely and has great back end reaction. This ball will open up the lanes for you when they are burnt and works great if you have the source also.

One of my benchmark and favorite EBI bowling balls was the Total NV. In fact, I shot my highest AE score at the USBC Nationals with the Total NV. The Legacy brings that same type of ball motion and carry back to their arsenal (clean through the front, strong midlane and very responsive at the breakpoint). The coverstock is the modern XL2010 Hybrid which really matches up well with the successful Total NV core. It fits in very well between the PIVOT and the SOURCE. I could actually take these three ball choices to most competitive events and have a pretty successful arsenal for most needed ball motions. If the PIVOT is a bit too much (launch in the front) and the SOURCE is a too clean, the Legacy is the perfect ball choice. It is stronger in the mid lane than the SOURCE and really responds well at the breakpoint (very strong backend reaction). I was really excited when I heard EBI was releasing this to the public. I expected similar ball motion to the Total NV and it is! It will be very difficult to keep this ball out of my hand. The versatility of this ball is amazing – it basically responds on type of lane play environments. The LEGACY of EBI continues on!

I use the Legacy when I need a little more pop at the pins and a quick and assertive move off the spot. The 20x4x20 may seem like an unusual drill, but it gives me the extra power I need. It worked very well on Mexico City. The ball got down the lane easily and made a short but strong move at the pins. I was pleasantly surprised with the carry on the half pocket hits getting strikes where I tend to leave weak tens. On Stockholm after the pattern broke down some, I found a great reaction by moving left and playing 10 to the gutter. In league, when my other balls aren’t quite facing up right, the Legacy is my go to ball.
I have also found that the Legacy responds well to hand position and surface changes. This is a very versatile ball and a will work well for all bowling styles. With the proper surface and drill high rev players will be able to grip it and rip it, while the more traditional styles will find the extra power they look for.

The Legacy fits in nice compared to the Source and my favorite, The Champion. The Champion and Legacy are pretty close and I have multiple layouts of each. Comparing the two, I found that the Legacy offers a bit more continuation from the spot than the Champion. While the factory surface if adequate for most medium volumes, I found it to be a bit much on lighter volumes. However, with a touch of surface this made it a good choice on some heavier patterns as well when my Champions struggled to read the right part of the lane. Overall stronger and more continuous than the Source, very good complimentary piece and a ball than can be a benchmark or first ball out of the bag.

Hello everyone,
I've had an interesting time with the Legacy. Things have been going well with the Pivot and Champion, but I put them away to see if the Legacy could be even better. Since the Total NV is an all-time favorite, I was looking forward to this release.
My Legacy is drilled 65 x 4.5 x 65 (with extra hole), and I have experimented with the surface a lot. I am left-handed and throw 15 pounds.
Initially, I felt like it took too long to pick up a good roll, and the backend reaction was unpredictable.
My first surface adjustment was with 2000 Abralon. The traction was good, especially on our fresh league shot, it rolled in the midlane and was smooth on the back. But, while it was good, it was too similar to the Pivot.
Next, I chose to hit it with 1000 Abralon and add some Magic Shine. This gave it some teeth, but also some skid and energy retention. I found decent length and a more predictable backend reaction with this combination. The shine gives it the right about of pop when the Pivot might be laboring down the lane.
The Legacy fits nicely between the Champion and the Pivot. As I said, when the Pivot seems dead on the back, but I want a little more arc/shape than I'd get with the Champion, the Legacy is great. When it's time to play hard and straight and stop giving away the pocket, it's Champion time.
I am looking forward to throwing the newly-surfaced Legacy in our Tuesday Sport league. We are bowling on the 2013 USBC Open Championships team pattern, and I feel like this combination might be pretty good. Typically, I throw a Challenge at 2000, but the extra backend might be nice.
I also have been thinking about pulling out my Total NV and copying the drilling onto another Legacy. That could make for a nice 1-2 combo with the more aggressive cover on the same great core.

Drilling: I drilled my Legacy pin down with the MB kicked out about 2 ½†and put 4000 abralon on it.
Likes: This ball is perfect for medium lane conditions with tight backends, it’s a hybrid cover so it’s still not extremely angular but a lot more so than the Pivot. I love the versatility of the coverstock and how well it takes surface changes. I definitely plan on drilling a few more of these gems, I think it is the best ball Ebonite has released since the gamebreaker.

Total NV is back, well kind of lol. The legacy using the same core but with an updated cover, a shiny hybrid. This ball goes left down lane, very good for me on longer patterns. This ball is a great compliment to the entire line up! Pivot too much? This ball gives you the same look. This ball not enough down lane? Grab a Legacy for more pop down lane. Legacy too early? Source fits the bill, clean and smooth. This line up is unreal right now! Don't believe me? Find your next demo day and give them a shot, they won't disappoint.
I laid mine out 60x5x35 and left it a box. This ball will be thrown a lot over the next year.

LANE CONDITION
Typical house shot with friction right of second arrow/10 board, there's oil, but very minimal. Most of the volume is inside and you have to play this house closer to third arrow/15 board. Shots that are cut off short will earlier read and be thru the face and may cross over brooklyn. I was standing 28 crossing about 17/18 and throwing to the range finder/down lane marker at 10 board.

I did a fairly strong layout, cause I have high tilt, high axis rotation and ball speed in the mid 15's. I did a 40deg x 4-1/4" x 35deg layout with a weight hole beside the mass bias. I loved the Total NV, which is the core used in this ball and had to get a Legacy. The ball has easy length and a very strong/flippy move at the break. I wanted to get it to read earlier and hit the surface with a 4000 abralon and the ball was money! It still has a very strong move, but it reads slightly sooner and carries very well. Kudos to Ed Gallagher, Ron Hickland Jr. and the Hoptown Gang/EBI. Just my $.02, Bruce
