Layout:
Pin 4-1/2" from PAP
below the fingers
CG 1/2" right of grip center

Surface: Applied one coat of Ebonite Factory Finish Polish

Lane conditons:
AMF synthetics with medium oil in the middle and
very dry outside 7 boards.

This ball is a very good compliment to the Time series. It will easily clear the front part of the lane and make a very strong backend move. I use the ball when my Big Time Sanded reads the lane too early, and my Big Time Pearl does'nt give enough backend snap. This is a very good "all around" ball that should work for all bowling types.

bowler specs 320 revrate, 16 mph, 45 rotation, 11" track diameter
ball specs 4.5 pin above ring with small hole 5" from gripcenter
ball surface 1000 abralon and 1000 abralon with nenew-it polish

the ball has been tested on both wood sport and synthetic house with excellent results on both conditions. On the wood sport the ball rolled up at about 35' with a smooth arc to the pocket and reacted a few boards stronger than my absolute with the same surface. Hitting power was above average as was carry %. On the synthetic condition the ball had easier length as expected with a stronger move at the breakpoint. Carry was again excellent with high scores a both patterns. With good bowler execution the balls response is superb and reminds me a slightly stronger V2 black which we all know ain't half bad, LOL. This ball will satisfy many bowlers on many different patterns and so far the longevity(40 games) seems to be a non-issue. Compared to a One with similar surface, this ball rolls noticably smoother at the breakpoint and slightly sooner.

bowler  Pap  5 1/2 over 3/8 up

Drill pattern
pin 4 5/8 from pap under ring finger
cg placement 3 in from pap on centerline
x hole on pap

Pre drilling ball specs:
15 lbs
pin 2-3
top 2 3/4

Lane condition:  Modified house shot oiled 41 feet out of bounds out side of 5

this ball for me will probably be my benchmark ball in my new 15 lb arsenal....

right out of the box  this ball clears the heads allmost like a pearl reactive does for me  but when it reads the mid lane this ball flips and picks up a nice heavy rolling, hard arc to the pocket....  this ball doesnt quit when it turns over on the back end line alot of balls on the market, the over time drives right threw the pins keeping them low and on the deck, (doesnt drive the pins straight back)......  i would say this  ball could handle the medium conditions with out of box surface  i could see this beeing a lil bit inconsistant on the drier oil patterns  and definately not enough ball on heavier patterns...

on a scale of 1-10 with ten being the ball of the year candidate   i give the Ebonite Overtime  a solid 7

Check profile for bowler diagnostics:

Pin 4 1/2 inches from PAP over ring finger, cg out, x-hole

Surface- 1000 Abralon and a light coat of ebonite extender polish

Test Centers-

House #1- HPL'S, 39 ft pattern, large concentration in the middle from 10-10
House #2- Brunswick Pro-Anvilane, medium heavy blend, track opens up and carries down slighty.

I was looking for a "benchmark" ball to start my arsenal and choose to go with the Overtime. I was expecting a smooth continuous look on the lanes and this ball fits the bill perfectly.

Likes:
-Consistent midlane read, think V2 only stronger, a ball that will keep you in or near the pocket for a sustained amount of time
-Blends wet/dries very well
-Predicatable backend motion, no jerk off the dry (end of the pattern or from the right) very hard arc
-Hides release mistakes, you dont have to catch all of the Overtime to get it to catch a true roll
-Keeps pins low to the deck and carries extremely well
-Good length, clears fronts easily

Dislikes:
-Not a ball for extremes i.e. drying mids, heavier patterns
-Tendency too quit if you have to move far left of 4th arrow
-Squirts on large amounts of carrydown

Conclusion-
This has got to be one of the best pieces on the market right now. A tweeners dream, strokers should like the versatility, and would be a good control ball for guys that spank the ball. Great ball for the typical house shot due to its strength and predictability. Im comfortable swinging 15, or having the ball tumble end-over-end up second arrow. As I stated earlier, this is a ball that stays in play for a while provided the bowler follows trasition correctly.

I am a tweener that throws the ball at about 15.5 mph. I left the ball in the out of box condition. The house I bowl league in has synthetic lanes oiled to 42 feet. Drier outside the seven board and medium heavy from the seven board in.

What can I say but this ball hooks! My father has The One and was throwing with me. He let me throw it and I can say that the Overtime had more back end and rolled earlier. It is stronger than all of my other balls. I was even able to play the drier boards outside without the ball checking up too early. It just dove into the pocket, resembling The One. It can handle light medium to medium heavy oil. But if it gets too dry, put it away because it will stop hooking. The ball needs some oil to roll correctly. It is a very versatile ball that can be used on various conditions. This is due to it’s heritage, (XXXcel coverstock, and Big Time core).

Great ball!

tweener. pin about 1.5 inches to the right of my ring finger. it is the best ball to come from ebonite in years, and what a deal. the backend on this is so friggin insane. out of the box  251, 248, 231 for a 730. so yeah buy it.

LayOut: Rev Leverage

Pros: Ball stores power
      Ball finishes Hard
      Predictable Movement
      Responds well to surface adjustments
      Recovers quite nicely
Keeps pins low to the deck instead of exploding them around

Cons: It just hits to hard at times
Dry lanes are not friendly to this ball (but its NOT for that)
Pocket 8's will make anyone scream
Improper releases will cause a funky roll

All in all another good ball by Big E.....HooRah

Specs on file... ball was drilled as below:

PAP-Pin 4"
PAP-MB 5"
Pin above midline 1 1/2"
No hole

This ball was originally to fit between my R/2 and One...  As it turned out, it was stronger than either.  It flares around 5" with this layout, and picks up impressively in the midlane no matter what surface.  Backend reaction is between strong and violent on most conditions.  All good sets I've had with this piece were on mild carrydown with too much head hook for the R/2's surface.

Probably the best piece on the market for the money.  I don't get to throw it alot because of the number of boards that it crosses, but Ebonite has a great one for medium/weak hands looking for super performance at a lower price point.

Just bought the OT yesterday. Had the chance to practice a couple of games with it following an old ladies morning league.
ball specs.
3-4 inch pin
3 1/4 oz. top weight
Drilled with pin above ring out about 1:00 CG in stacked below with hole on Val. Ball left in OOB finish.
Just wanted to play with it to see what it could do. Ball speed is med to high with above average revs. High end of tweener.
I was standing on left gutter swinging it out to 5 and watched it walk back to the pocket at 45 feet. Nothing hard just a nice hard arc. I changed hand position and moved back out to 20 and tried playing about 7 and found it to be strong but predictable. I would need to polish it for this line and cond. I will be practicing on the USBC shot (same surface different oil & machine) to see how it will fare in OOB. I go to CC on Wednesday.
I will finish my review when I get back at the end of next week.

i punched this baby thursday withe the pin just under the ring finger and the cg about 2 inches at about 2 o'clock of my thumb. played around with it on a light house pattern but was way to aggressive so i had to wait to throw it later at the other house. in warmups i got a good reaction with it but the lanes broke down to soon. took it back out the last game just to fool around and it did some mercy. im one of your high rev bowlers.one thing i can tell you is if you pull it forget it. but you can miss right and it will do you mercy. gives predictable read through the mid-lane as well as the back end. and i forgot to mention i polished it b4 i punched it.i can see this as one of my tournament balls.

Pin to PAP Distance: 6"
Preferred Spin Axis to PAP Distance: 4 1/4"
Balance Hole: None
Surface Preparation: Box Condition

What I Was Looking For in this Ball and Layout:

If you didn't get a chance to check out my Big Time ball review, please read that before moving forward with this review for the Overtime. You'll see how making and realizing mistakes in pro shop work can be beneficial in the future. In the Overtime, I was looking for a ball that would skid down lane very easily. I also needed a ball reaction that would allow me to open up my launch angles and play the lane left to right.

What I Ended Up With in this Ball and Layout:

Earlier I told you about the mistakes of using a pin position that was too weak in a Big Time ball. But I too can learn from my mistakes. I knew I was looking at the same core as the Big Time. I knew that the core would hook given friction, and I knew that I had made an error using the layout I did in the particle cover Big Time. The solution for this desired reaction was easy. Select the same core in a non-particle coverstock that would allow for those higher launch angles and capitalize from my earlier errors.

The Overtime gets through the front part of the lane extremely well. This is due to two things. First, the coverstock is a very shiny phased bomber reactive. This delays hooking action significantly as the ball senses friction. Second, the pin position (6") I chose in this ball is so weak that the ball simply cannot flare early. The core is virtually standing straight up as I release the ball. With the core so close to it's high rg axis, it can't help but tumble through the front part of the lane.

Here's where my knowledge of ball reaction really made for an excellent bowling ball. I knew that I would have a reaction that pushed through the front very easily. I also knew that if I didn't have some help in the backend, I'd be watching something similar to a high-dollar Maxim. So I throw a 4 1/4" PSA location in this rock to make sure I am going to get some down lane reaction. Hopefully you can see that if I had used any PSA location much weaker than this, combined with a weaker shell and a weaker pin position, I would have had an incredibly bad reaction. This PSA location gives me a massive amount of late track flare and ball reaction.

The overall hook of my Overtime is not that much in overall boards. The impressive thing about the reaction is the way it gets to the pocket. This Overtime is definitely straighter than my One and Big One, and slightly less than my Big Time. But when this Overtime makes its move, the entry angle into the pins is absolutely stupid. In the first week, this ball won me a nice tournament victory simply because of the angles I was able to play. When you miss 5 single pins, crack 2 first shot balls off your ankle into the gutter, and still win a 10-game sweeper with a great field of players, you have incredible ball reaction.

A great example of how some thought, combined with learning from other experiences, can create exactly what you need in ball reaction.

Length from 1-10 (Early to Late)
8.0

Breakpoint Move from 1-10 (Smooth to Sharp)
9.0

Overall Hook from 1-10 (Low to High)
5.5

I got mine from Buddies Pro Shop. I'm not sure what the drill set up is, im still new at those, but I know its drilled aggressively, probably too aggressive if too much hook. I also tried to make it roll straight, but it will hook on its own, no matter how hard you can make it roll straight. Its 15 lb 3 oz with 2 oz pin
It performs well and hits hard on dirty heavy oil or fresh wet/dry. I am more of a power cranker. Im guessing i bowl about 17 mph. It does good on fresh medium oil, but i have to move more left for the strike targeting. On dry, the ball is a nightmare due to its drill set up and reactive resin cover. I have to bowl the ball at least 18 mph if i want it to hook late.
My highest on this ball as of right now is 173, but best 10 strikes in a row in 2 games. I like this ball, but since doing the power cranker, it gets exhausting after 4 games. This isn't suitiable for tournaments if i wanted to bring it. But i will buy another Overtime and have a different drill setup on it making it suitable for tourneys or lots of games.

Two of my favorite balls from Ebonite was my departed Apex Adrenaline and my Vortex II. To me, this ball is those two balls combined and mabey better. A midlane reaction like the Vortex II but more of a smoother arc. Grabs through the oil like the Adrenaline but a better, more continuous backend.. Not quite the hit of the Vortex but still keeps the ball low. I've shot some big games with this including a guy on my league bowling next to me shot lights out with this ball. I have mine highly polished as I usually prefer. Revs up easily, smoothly, and not too much craziness on the backend. Mabey the best Ebonite ball ever made!

I have been using this ball my entire career (just over a year) and it still performs as good as the day i bought it. Its drilled pretty simply, pin under the ring finger. I have probably bowled 1,000+ games on it and it has held up unbelievably. This ball doesnt hook a whole lot (atleast not for my style) but reacts well in all lane conditions. Also, this ball hits GREAT. I've seen people throwing balls from ebonites ONE series and they hit nothing like this ball. The overtime suits all different styles, and is why its the #1 selling ball in the pro shop i work in. Overall, its a great ball and if you keep it clean, it can last a LONG time.

This ball is pretty sweet. I have my Overtime drilled up a little different than my other balls, and i love it. I have the pin below the ring finger with a 1 inch pin out. It doesn't go as long down the lane compared to my other balls, but it doesn't have a big hook either. It starts hooking about 3/4 the way down the lane and plows through the pins.

This is by far the most versatile ball I own.  I keep the surface around 1000 grit abralon and lightly resurface with 1000 every 10 games or so.  Can't stand dirty balls. haha.

Anyways the ball rolls from start to finish. What I mean by that is that it skids minimally on normal conditions.  This is not a skid hook ball.  This is a release and roll thru the pins ball. People need to understand that their equiptment needs to above all else roll soon enough.  The Overtime is  a great rolling control ball.  No it does not possess a lot of hook in fact it really is a weaker hooking ball.  But the game is about control not overall hook. When you spend your money think about what you need in a ball. And by all means don't continue to keep buying the latest and greatest hook monster on the market.  I know its fun to do so but that has never improved my game.

Practicing sound fundamentals is the key.  Always keeping your mind open to new ideas.  Never believe you know it all.  Because the simple fact is you will never know it all.  Thats the awesome part because learning is the fun part the true adventure if you will.  Every time you bowl you should learn something new.  Granted there will be times when you just stink but stinking is good because it really gets you motivated to improve.  I mean face it sooner or later we don't stink as bad and find improvement if we keep our senses open to success.  And do not give up!!  No matter how many times you flip the pins off and mutter choice adjectives don't give up.

I have bowled well over 200 games with my Overtime and it really has been my old reliable.  When my Widow and Doom are simply to much ball, out comes the Overtime.  And I have yet to be disappointed by it.  The ball does not roll itself however nor does it turn over on late carry-down mid-lane.  For that you must adjust hand position rev-rate and possibly speed.  Or easiest just move right and fire away down and in. The ball is not jumpy and usually holds that line very well.  More surface on a ball smooths out the over all reaction.  But don't get carried away on sanding.  I wouldn't recommend anything under 800 grit. Hope this review was helpful.

Have fun learning the game.

I just cut another one of these.  It is drilled with a 5" pin to pap with the pin 2" above the midline.  The cg is kicked out a pinch, but there is no weight hole.

I knew when drilling the ball that it was going to roll great, and it certainly does.  I love stuff that rolls even, it just gives confidence that you know what the ball is going to do at all times.  The one problem with the ball is sure to be inside angles and the pin carry that results out of playing such lines.

Out of box, the ball is too sanded for me on any of the typical shots that I see.  If I happened to elevate the pin, it may have been better suited for that finish though.  I quickly decided that it needed a bit of shine to work well.  I hit the factory 1000 grit sand with Brunswick Rough Buff.  I then hit another house and really saw what the ball could do.

Though I applied the finish lightly, the reaction was totally different, it was easily five feet further down lane at each stage of its reaction.  It still maintained that smooth roll.  After using it on a few different volumes of oil through the nite, it seemed to be most at home on medium to heavy oil from outside angles, or lighter volumes from a bit in.  I found myself using this ball when the shot was fresh to great success, then I switched to the Smash Time Pearl when the lanes broke down a bit.  But oddly enough I went back to this ball when they were quite broken down.  It is not relly this balls strength to get inside and wheel the lane, but oddly enough I didn't need to do that.

Bowling after a 4 game league with another righty on the pair I started at 25 rolling the ball over 15 at the arrows.  The ball worked great for a 279.  The next game carry began to suffer as I moved in a bit so I shot 223.  I decided to switch to my smash time pearl, and it worked ok but even though it seemed to be suited to the shot, I bumped around shooting mostly 2 teens with a few 180's in the mix.  Finally the last game (game 8) I went back to the overtime stood in fairly deep and tried to swing the ball.  To my surprise it did not recover.  I then moved out a few boards, winding up only 4 boards inside of where I started with the overtime in game # 1.  The ball was still clean through the fronts and with a change in hand position, it was able to recover on the backend, and I proceeded to shoot 260 something.

The ball is so versitile, but one needs to keep in mind hand positions.  The ball will not show you much different a read when you hit it up the back or come all the way around it, but you will see it when the ball hits the pins.  I would personally advise that whenever you make a move in to reevaluate your hand position.  The ball will get to the pocket with ease, it is just the carry that needs fine tuning.

The ball is great, one of the best releases there is, and the best ball in the time series in my opinion.  Reaction is great.  Just remember that carry is not a game of luck.  There are many people that will say that they bowled well but didn't carry well, while at times this can be true, most of the time, one needs to take poor carry into their own hands and make a change.

To start it off, this ball is the best I've ever used.  I picked it up on ebay for the princely sum of around 70 dollars with shipping.  I'm not a cranker, but I do throw it with a nice big arc and I wanted a versitile ball.  I have made this ball go board straight, make a big sweeping arc, and snap back like a whip, and it works great any way I use it.  This has worked great for me on all lane conditions.  My first six games with this ball averaged around 230 and I carry a 190 average.  It brought me my first two seven hundred series and my first three hundred in the first week of throwing it.  It is a permanent staple in my arsenal.
