Persevere
« on: October 17, 2012, 12:21:11 PM »
Ball NPS Score: 100.00
Description: We all have to Persevere through trials in life. This ball is dedicated to a famous bowler Tommy Jones, and all bowlers who persevere through life. This ball persevere's through the oil continuing to the pocket with a strong back-end. You will want to use this ball on medium oil lanes or with oil patters that are a little broken down. Also, since this ball is a Reactive Hybrid it will read the lanes a little more than a normal Hybrid and hook slightly more in the back-end.

“This ball, combined with the recent release of the Ebonite Challenge, is going to fill gaps in my arsenal and help me in tournaments all over the world. The Persevere especially can go either way – I can shine it up when the lanes hook a lot, or put a 1000 grit finish on it when they are tight. I love that versatility. It reminds me of the Game Breaker a little bit because of how much I can use it. I’m definitely looking forward to the upcoming season with my new pieces.” - Tommy Jones

Likes:Got it in last night and punched some holes in it! On wed night I bowl a league that's very light on oil and is high friction also.. So balls are rolling out and puking even to start practice. I had been using my Elevate and a older burst just to try and save the night there by the third game its like bowling on bare boards!

The persevere has given me the opportunity to stay more right with on the lanes and also given me actual back end motion instead of flipping over and rolling out. Ebonite has done a great job on this one and I was even able to use it all 3 games.

The closest other ball I have to this one is My Elevate but the persevere  is much longer and more angular for me. For a person with less hand like myself this is just the ball the doctor ordered

Dislikes: That I dont have more Perseveres!

I drilled the Persevere seed ball up with a pretty standard layout, pin 4 1/2" from my axis, above my fingers with I weight hole. I was expecting smooth, controllable hook motion, and that's what I got. The hybrid cover really has a unique look going down the lane, the teal hasn't really been used in a ball before.

On our free house pattern, there wasn't enough friction for this ball to be effective. We have a super-high volume in our center, so in order to have success, I had to hit the ball with 1000 Abralon. When we did that, the motion was better. The shape was smooth and continuous, not jerky at all.

I also threw the ball after one of our big men's leagues. After 3 games of 5-man teams, they get pretty scorched in the mids from everyone playing the same part of the lane. I three the Persevere and this is where I found the most success. Like every other ball on this condition, it dug in the midlane, but more effectively than others, it was more controllable. The nice arc it made to the pocket was easy to read, control, and make adjustments off of.

If you're looking for a ball to be smooth and control over/under and broken down lanes, this would be the ball.  Dull, symmetrical balls are easy to find a use for with a lot of different player styles, and this is no exception.

I drilled my first Persevere 35*4"*15. p1 hole on VAL. I get an extremely smooth and predictable ball motion. This is a great ball when the lanes are over/under or touchy. Smooth, yet strong and continuous. Great continuation through the pin deck!! This ball will certainly see lots of action on the lanes!!

The PERSEVERE is an excellent benchmark ball that performs well on a variety of lane conditions from medium light to medium heavy oil volumes. The ball reads the pattern very well. If a ball change is needed, it will quickly let you know if a stronger or weaker ball is required.  The hybrid cover which has slightly more pearl additive than the ENDURE, saves more energy for the back end without overshooting the break point.  The PERSEVERE responds well to speed and hand position changes as well as cover adjustments.   For me, the ball with the 6 inch drill has a more mellow and even reaction than the ball with 4 inch pin. My best looks with the PERSEVERE have been when I can play right of third arrow with small to medium launch angles.  Regardless of bowler style, the PERSEVERE is a great all around ball.

Can you say “benchmark”?  The Persevere has become the benchmark ball in my arsenal.  It will perform on most environments.  It also gives me the opportunity to make the correct and fast decision on whether or not I need something different in ball motion.  If you liked the V2 and/or Gamebreaker, you will love the Persevere.   Very similar but updated which responds a bit stronger at the breakpoint.

The Persevere will perform extremely well in heavier volumes and even lighter volumes with a cover adjustment and longer pin from the PAP.  It also responds very well with a hand position change, which defines a versatile bowling ball.
The stronger pin (4 ½”) is more midlane while the longer pin (5”) creates a larger angle at the back.  The Persevere will enable any type of player to match their rev rate and ball speed to the environment.

I would recommend this ball to any type of bowler looking for a new ball that can become their "go to" arsenal piece and be used the majority of the time.
This is another outstanding new ball manufactured by Ebonite.

See you in the winner's circle,

Drilled a second Persevere. 50x4x30 with a double thumb balance hole. Holy cow!!! What a great ball!! The strong layout works fantastic on this ball. The strong forward roll really demolishes the pins!!! Don't be afraid to drill this ball strong. You will not be dissapointed!! I hit the surface with a light 2000 abralon pad to use on our very heavy oiled house condition. This is a great compliment to the Ebonite Endure. Bowl to Win!!!

This ball is totally phenomenal!! It is extremely smooth and very predictable. It has a strong continuous back-end reaction and just explodes on the pins. This is my go to ball when I begin competition. After the transition, it allows me to move in and play a deeper part of the lane, but still provides strong continuous hitting power on the back end. Normally when I move in, I loose my corner pin carry. However, when using the Persevere, it gives me the extra turn on the back end.

My Persevere is drilled with the pin in between the fingers and the CG is in the lower right quadrant. It also has a small axis hole. This ball is a necessity for any bowler’s arsenal.

Awesome job Ebonite!!!

COMMENTS

I drilled my staff ball 50 x 5 1/4 x 30 and left it at box surface. This is a great mid range option for us. It's close in total hook as the Source but in a diff way. This ball doesn't flare to much so the fronts are no issue. Its move off the spot is very responsive for a sanded piece but the hybrid cover has a bit to do with that. If I need a ball to go straighter up the lane with a symmetrical core, this is what I grab. Good ball to start a block with and move in off of that. Love the colors too  :)
