Ebonite Pivot

The new Ebonite Pivot out of the box has plenty to offer. When comparing this on a house shot to a tournament shot I would say it didn't disappoint. This ball will definitely need oil in the heads to get the best results. On flatter patterns it wanted to start up early coming off the pattern. If there was enough oil in the heads and the backends  started getting carry down this ball worked really well. On either shot the ball motion was similar a strong continuous heavy arc. This ball could fit in  several areas of anyone's arsenal depending on surface but keep in mind this ball has a high intermediate diff and starts up earlier than most in this line right now.

Likes: This ball gives me the ability to keep my lines a little straighter in front of me (what I prefer to do) still having the continuous motion down lane.  It gets in to a roll very soon but stores enough energy to still make a smooth continuous motion down lane.

I have mine drilled pin above the ring finger with the CG kicked out a little bit. Weight hole near the thumb.  This is one of my favorite layouts no matter what Ebonite ball I have in my hand.

Certainly a MUST HAVE ball is you are looking for something medium to heavy oil that will get through the fronts while keeping enough energy for the backend reaction.

This really is a special ball and finally, I feel, that this has the "WOW" factor that we have been lacking for a little bit of time. The pivot is a VERY strong, high-performance ball that does not stop!

This ball allows me to actually throw it...I don't feel like I need to trick it in anyway, and because of its consistent continuation, it really frees up my swing and puts trust back in to the ball.

Out of the box, this ball is great for any higher volume pattern. For me, and where I bowl league, I had to modify the cover slightly and on the spinner:
1) Hit the surface with a 1000 abralon pad, lots of water
2) Factory finish polish, wish moderate amount of water
3) 3000 abralon pad, lightly to crack the polish

I have it drilled with the pin above my ring finger and the mass bias at 55 degrees - one of my favorite layouts.

OH, BTW...One of the best parts about this ball...from a consumer perspective...is that it has VALUE!. Dollar for dollar, it is the strongest HP ball on the market today!

Hello everyone,

The Pivot has fit nicely into my arsenal. We drilled it to give me the same shape as my Innovate (which has been my favorite ball since it came out) but for heavier oil patterns.

It is drilled 45 x 4 5/8 x 35 with an extra hole that is 3/4" and 1 1/2" deep. It picks up an early roll, and it's nice when I want to open up the lane a little bit. I may be left-handed, but sometimes I like to move a little bit right and slow hook/arc the ball, and this let's me do that. Sometimes, the carry is better with this angle.

The Innovate works really well for this particular look, especially on a house pattern or something more challenging that requires a little more right to left lane play, but sometimes, more traction is necessary.

Because of my ball speed, I usually prefer a lot of surface, and I definitely am impressed with the new 1500 Abranet. I felt the same about 3000 Abralon when it came out. Seems to be just enough, when I felt a little lost before.

The Pivot rolled a little too early and rolled out for me on the house shot when it was fresh, but a few games of lane shine seems to have made a nice difference. It rolls early, but still has enough energy to roll through the pins.

The product line is simple enough to know that when the Pivot is checking up too early or laboring on the friction on the back, I can go to the Champion or Source for more length and more pop.

My Pivot has quickly become my favorite ball!! It is incredible off the spot and VERY continuous!!! It destroys racks!!! It has a unique sound as it plows through the pindeck.
I drilled this ball to help me on a 3:1 very heavy volume scratch league shot. 20*4*30 with a p 3.5 balance hole. To combat the new proanvil lane sursface and the heavy 41' pattern, I took the surface down to 1000 abralon.
I have so much area with this ball it is almost unfair!!! This ball should be in everyone's bag!! It has ball of the year potential!!! Go to your local proshop and get a Pivot and you will not be dissapointed!!!

Awesome ball especially for slower speed bowlers on heavier oily patterns   The pivot is nice cause it doesn't burn too much energy early and puke in the back ends.  Very controllable and continuous    Give it a try!

Another outstanding bowling ball by Ebonite!  It seems like every ball that EBI brings to the market is developed to fill a need for the bowler’s arsenal development.  The Champion is an incredibly versatile ball and rolls well on most every environment.  The one challenge for the Champion was higher volumes and longer patterns.  Ebonite releases the PIVOT which meets that need perfectly.  You will notice the Pivot is clean through the front like the Champion, a bit stronger in the mids and has tremendous response at the breakpoint, especially considering the box surface (1500).  Most balls with that much surface have a tendency to slow down too quick and leave nothing for the back of the lane.  The PIVOT is the first ball that still has a lot left as it motions toward the pocket.  The coverstock and the core are matched perfectly with the PIVOT.  The one thing that stands out with the PIVOT is the continuation through the pins and the pin carry.  I recommend the PIVOT to anyone looking for a piece in their arsenal for medium to heavy oil environments and who wants to STRIKE!

Let me start by saying i'm just your typical league bowler, I dont know my PAP, or what axis rotation really is. I am not sure which style of bowler I am or even close to but what i can tell you is that this ball is drilled Pin up (above the fingers), I can also tell you im a big guy and keep a higher ball speed, 16.3 to 16.6 MPH, I have been bowling competeivly for 10 years and in all of my years of bowling never had i had to stand with my foot on 35 aim to roll over 18  with my break point at 10-8, this ball is a BEAST, and OMG once it gets into a roll the only thing that stops it is pit. I honestly believe this is the strongest, ball i have ever held. it gets throught the front of the lane very easy, and does a great job showing you the bowler just where it is hooking from. before having this ball i had the Champion, which brought me my First 300, that ball will always be my 1st love, but with the way this ball is moving, i cant see why I wont shoot 800 real soon.

love this ball

A M A Z I N G
One word will say in all, AMAZING.  This ball is simply that. If your looking for a ball with surface, bite, hook and power going through the pins the Pivot is your ball.

Drilled mine with simple pin under my middle finger layout to give it just a pinch more length.  Did not disappoint me at all.  On my league house shot it gave more hook than I could have ever ask for.  First game out of the box with no surface change at all was 300.

You will need some lane oil for this monster.  This is the most hooking ball on the market today, nothing can even come close to what this ball can do.  Has a much more solid sound when hitting the pocket, something that we have not had in a EBI product before.

For a ball with a lot of surface it gets down lane with relative ease and does not stop hooking until it has gone completely off the pin deck.  This will make the heavier sport patterns seem tame.  When it comes time to bowl USBC Open Championship this ball will be on the rack and ready to roll.

Drilling: I drilled my Pivot pin down with the MB kicked out about 1 ½” and put 1000 abralon on it.
Likes: This ball can handle any medium to heavy volume of oil you throw at it. This ball is very clean through the front and gets into a roll pretty soon but doesn’t stop driving when it hits the pins. This would be a great choice for someone with low revs because it does a lot of the work for you.

Dislikes: This ball seems to burn up on shorter patterns and lower volumes, especially if you try to hit on the ball, granted it is a high end ball and not meant for either. I’m not a fan of extremely rolly bowling balls and this one is just that, which isn’t always a bad thing I just prefer a little more angle from my equipment.

Pivot features a strong cover wrapped around a strong core, giving bowlers a true option for heavy oil in the Ebonite brand. I've drilled a few of these for a variety of bowlers and Pivot has failed to disappoint.

With a 1500 grit finish, lower rev rate bowlers see a ball that gives them a great deal of traction to create good ball motion on a variety of lane conditions.

Higher rev rate bowlers can use a little bit of polish and really see this ball jump on the backend.

Easily one of the most versatile bowling balls, I've seen from the Ebonite brand in some time.

Likes: I absolutely love this ball for "balling up" and controlling the lane. I am personally impressed with the volume of oil this ball can get through with controllability. Good for fresh shots when the heads have heavy oil and for patterns with length. Very good HP ball with continuation.

Dislikes: When the oil starts to disappear or move this ball becomes a little tricky for me. I found that I cannot keep up with the moves, (I'm a higher rev player) and balling down is a viable option.

Haven't used much Ebonite stuff lately, but on advice of my pro shop guy and another respected friend I drilled this up. I only used it once in league, and it was too strong for the condition after game 2.

Took it to Reno, and started out with it in team event. I was short-arming it so wasn't getting the job done, but once I got back on track with fundamentals, wow this ball is amazing. I ended up using it all 9 games, shot 1902 all events, my personal high in 11 USBC National trips.

It's a very strong arcing motion off your breakpoint. Slaps the pins around very well. Thanks Ebonite, this will be my go-to tournament ball for now.
