My Champion is drilled 50x4.5"x60. Pin under middle finger. This ball is special. Just thebest balance of power and control!! The pearl cover is very strong, even in our heavily oiled house condition. It reads the mid lane very well and continues through the pins!! This ball looks amazing, it has a nice shelf appeal. Also, this ball takes surface changes very well. I had success with it at 1000 and 2000 abralon as well as the out of box surface. What you get with the new Ebonite Champion is, a strong, versatile, continuous bowling ball. The best ball I have in my arsenal right now!!! Bowl to Win!!

LANE CONDITION

Length:39 foot

Volume:moderate volume

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS, not able to use Champion on our 33ft Sport pattern

COMMENTS

Likes:I drilled two Champions, one with the industry standard pin over ring finger with the cg and mass bias swung out toward the vertical axis line and a balance hole below the midline. The dual angle layout was 40 x 4.5 x 40. The second Champion was drilled with the pin well right of the grip area and no balance hole this gets the ball into a quick roll but is a control layout. The dual angle is 90 x 1.75 x 40.  Between the two layouts, the pin over ring finger gets down the lane and has a late breakpoint. The short pin to axis point has a larger quicker hooking path. I have played much better with the short pin to axis point layout even though I have to play a larger hook path on the lanes, the path is more predictable. The Champion revs a bit stronger for me than the Innovate, and I have found both of these balls to be very predictable and strong.

Dislikes:So far the only issue with the Champion is I would like to use it on very short patterns and that is not realistic.

Comments:
The Champion is the newest high performance ball from Ebonite.  This ball reminds me of the first time I used the original ONE.  It’s one of those special “WOW” balls that a bowler immediately knows it is special.  My first experience was in league play.  After removing it from the ball press, I shot 800 with it the first 3 games of play.  It is one of the few shiny pearl balls that performs exceptionally in high oil environments.  Most pearls are so clean that the mid lane never gets a chance to slow it down, which creates over/under at the back of the lane.  The Champion reads the mid section of the lane and creates that strong entry angle that all bowlers are looking for.

I had an opportunity to use it in a local event.  The environment was very low scoring.  The pattern was very flat and the backends were tight.  The Champion read the lane properly and created enough entry angle for proper ball motion for carry.  It created that “look” that no one else had throughout the event.

I have bowled on Highway To Hell and one other sport pattern with the Champion and the results have been the same.  This ball is extremely versatile, reads the lane much different than other competitor’s pearl balls and strikes a lot.  This is a ball in my arsenal that is very difficult to put in your bag.  If you are looking for that “WOW” ball, try the Champion.  You will wonder what took you so long.

Ebonite Champion is going to be ebonite's next big seller. This ball goes threw the heads very clean and has tons of backend and continues to the pocket. The carry on this ball is spectacular. The best thing is you can use this ball in any condition from fresh to when it is carrying down. I can guarantee you that you will not be upset when buying this ball.

Let me first say that I personally have never thrown a Ebonite with this type of motion.  With that being said this ball is very special to the Ebonite line.  I have drilled two Champions: one with a layout of 70 x 5 1/2 x 30 and the other 45 x 4 1/2 x 50.  What is unique about the Champion is the cover.  This cover responds very strong to friction on the back end of the oil pattern.  A lot of balls I have seen and used in the past with this type of coverstock characteristic tend to roll more forward through the  pins.  However not the Champion. I cannot believe how this core/cover combo is this strong in the back end and still has the most continuation of any current Ebonite ball in the line.  Because this ball conserves a lot of energy for the pins, the carry is amazing!  I get hits that I swore would leave half 10's but somehow get taken out.  I have tried different surface grits and I'm finding the best use from 2000 or 3000 abralon.  I feel this a ball that will fit all styles,  because of usable the cover is and how driller friendly the core is. I chose the drill layouts as these two layouts are my standard and benchmark layouts.  If you are confused or up in the air on a layout, I recommend just placing your favorite layout and go to town.  If you always wanted a high performance ball that is usable on a variety of oil patterns and volumes that gives you incredible ball motion from all angles, reads the mid lanes with a heavy roll, and still saves tremendous amounts of energy for the back ends, and still continues through the pins with incredible hitting power, drill a Champion! If you unsure of the success of this ball, do a little research and you'll find pros and amateurs are winning tournaments and shooting honor scores all over with short time it's been on the market.

This ball will definitely be accompanying me during all tournament coming up!

I currently have two of these - 1) 3" pin, drilled under the bridge, cg kicked out with a thumb hole.  2) 3" pin, above my ring finger, stacked drilling, no hole.

They compliment each other very well. My pin under the bridge is super clean - it gets in to a roll really early but is still continuous through the pins.  The pin above my ring finger gets through the heads nicely but conserves enough energy to still make a move down lane.  It's not too angular for me - very controllable.

A must have for anyone looking for that GO TO ball when the conditions get tough!

drilled this ball 45x5x60 absolutely love it.  lightly scuff the cover with 3000 abralon to give it a little bit earlier motion. This ball is a must have its got everything great colors, real angular motion and good continuation. This will be in my bag no matter were i am going to go bowl.

COMMENTS

I drilled my staff ball 50 x 5 1/4 x 30 with an x hole 4 inches straight over and left it at box surface. This ball is very strong in the fronts, it needs a lot of oil there. If not the ball will flare out and appear that it is not hooking. But if you have enough head oil this ball is a very good! It has a very strong move off the spot but isn't angular and its continuation through the pins is very good. It is a very good fit between our Pivot and Source. I've found this ball is better suited for sport and challenge patterns, the heavier volume in the fronts allows the ball to do what it does best. If you need a stronger pearl, this is the ball for you!

Ebonite Champion

What more could you want a good looking pearl with plenty of power. When comparing pearls within this line the champion is the strongest. ( Champion- Innovate-Source ) I would say the champion is the work horse of these 3. The Champion is very similar in length to the Innovate but off the spot it is much harder and it has a more definitive move in my opinion. It handles more overall oil and also handles any carry down you may encounter out of the 3 balls mentioned.  The Champion is a pearl that can handle a variety of patterns and with surface adjustments you should be able to dial it in.

Hello everyone,

I've finally had a chance to get some games on the Champion, and it definitely is one of my three go-to balls on the variety of house and Sport patterns we see in the DFW area.

It is drilled 45x4.5x30 (no hole), and I haven't changed the surface at all since it came out of the box. Generally, I like it when I am going to play farther left (I'm left-handed) or in the track area, with a little bit of friction to the outside. Most often, I have to break the shine on the new stuff to avoid an over/under reaction, but not with this ball.

Because I throw the ball hard, I like that it has some teeth (1500 Abralon) under the polish. It gives me decent length without too much skid through the front, and saves a good amount of energy for the backend. The little bit of extra traction also keeps it smooth for me when it exits the pattern. It's angular for me on the back, but not jerky.

As far as where it fits into the arsenal, I like to throw the Champion when the Source is skidding too much through the front part of the lane or giving me too much pop on the back, or when the shape/arc I get from the Innovate and Pivot just isn't the right look.

The Champion also works well for me on medium Sport patterns like the 39-foot pattern at the 2013 Bowlers Journal Championships, where it got through the oil in the heads, but didn't roll too soon, and then was smooth on the back. It didn't over-react if I missed in, and it didn't hang on me if I got it left down lane or was fast through the breakpoint.

If I need a little bit of length and predictability down the lane, this is my choice. When it's time to move right and throw it left to the breakpoint for a different shape, I know it's time to make a ball change.

The Champion bowling ball certainly stands by its name and is one of my go to bowling balls on fresh conditions.  The new RCS pearl coverstock and modified AXS core make a perfect combination for a true Champion.

My Champion is drilled with a 3 inch pin on the side of my ring finger, stacked drilling with a small weight hole for balance.  This ball reads mid lane for me and is very aggressive on the backend.  The Champion performs very well on high oil environments even though it has a polished coverstock.  I can use the Champion on fresh conditions and even transitioned conditions by moving deeper into the lane.  The Champion provides me with a  good bit of versatility and allows me to play deeper on the lane.   The ball conserves a good bit of energy for the backend motion and explodes on the pins.  I feel I can use the Champion on a variety of oil patters and get reaction on the backend as it creates motion for me and opens the lane.  The Champion is definitely one of my go to balls to begin tournament play.    This polished high performance bowling ball is a must for every bowler’s arsenal!!
