First of all I'd like to say,"Way to go Ebonite! It's great that you are donating $5 from every Pivot Point sold to the Folds of Honor Foundation." Now on to the ball. The Pivot Point is what I've been looking for!! Long and clean through the heads with a backend shape that looks like it kicked left at the break point. Using it on a THS I'm impressed with the way this pearl cover will recover missing to the left. Usually some 2 pin combo for me. The Pivot Point fits perfectly between my Legacy and Pivot. This ball is a must for any type of bowler. Release date is Jan 28th!! Lets help Ebonite write a big Check!

First off I want to say that Ebonite is contributing $5 per ball sale will go to the Folds of Honor, supporting fallen and wounded soldier’s families.  This ball having an updated cover that is wrapped around the CB-2 asymmetric core that was in the original Pivot.  These two balls are close in overall hook potential when the Pivot hooks too early the Pivot Point is cleaner and more angular to help compliment with transition and breakdown.  This ball is a great choice for house patterns and generating more angles through the pin deck to produce more strikes.
I drilled this ball like all my other balls that I like to compare pin above the fingers and CG kicked to right of my center grip.  For me this is a control drill and it allows me to get a good read on what the ball does from shot to shot.  With the Point I was able to move a 3-4 boards left off the Pivot and hit the pocket at will.  This ball is a great compliment to the Pivot and overall hook than the Legacy.  I will be throwing this ball, hopefully during the Masters competition in February.  Until next time make good shots and strike more!!!  Tool Box out!!!

I must say Ebonite is on roll !!  The Pivot Point is a great ball.  I am happy that $ 5 from the sale of each Pivot Point is going to the Folds of Honor Foundation (great job).   Now back to the compliments about the Pivot Point.  I simply love the way the ball reacts.   I have thrown mine on the THS and a couple of Kegal Sport Patterns as well.  The Pivot Point is so clean through the front part of the lane with a super left turn hook on the back.  This ball really comes hard off the spot.  The Pivot Point will fit nicely in my arsenal between my Pivot and Legacy.  Ebonite is doing a great job with the balls they are putting out !!   The Pivot Point is a ball you need in your bag plus it is supporting a great foundation.

Way to go Ebonite on this one!! What an awesome ball! For a pearl it picks up the lane really well in the midlane, and once it starts it's move it never stops! Talk about a continuous arc. This ball is a great compliment to the entire line up! Pivot too much? This ball gives you the same look. This ball not enough down lane? Grab a Legacy for more pop down lane. Legacy too early? Source fits the bill, clean and smooth. This line up is unreal right now! Don't believe me? Find your next demo day and give them a shot, they won't disappoint.

I laid mine out 60x5x70 and left it a box. This ball will be thrown a lot over the next year.

Likes: This ball fits the bill in a space between the Legacy and the Pivot. Great midlane ball with continuation. With the Pearl cover it clears the front better than the Pivot and has the same good controllability that we are seeing with the line of Ebonite equipment.

Dislikes: It still needs head oil to work properly. Even though it goes a little further down the lane than the Pivot it's still a high end ball.

Drilled my pivot point 30* 4 3/4" * 30. It is a PERFECT compliment to the pivot. This ball is really clean through the heads, even on the burned up house pattern. It retained energy and had a REMARKABLE move off the dry. WOW!! It really opened up the lane for me!! Yet, it still had the continuation to drive through the pins!! Ebonite is on a ROLL!!! These products are top notch!! Then, add on the $5 for every picot point sold going to The Folds of Honor Foundation, really puts #bowlitforward to life!! Get put to your local proshop an demand a Pivot Point!!

Another great addition to the Ebonite high performance line. The Pivot Point creates that sharp down lane motion. Out of the box this ball is finished with the 1500 grit abranet, and polished with Powerhouse factory finish. The Gold Pearl with Black and Purple highlights help enhance the Folds of Honor logo.
I drilled mine with a 70x5x30 layout, and left the box finish on it. My goal was to enhance the downlane movement that this ball promotes. I had a chance to throw this late in a block on a pattern that started at 40' with 28ml. I started the block playing 12 with the Pivot, but pulled this ball out and jumped into 20 game 4, and had a look that no one else could create.
High/Low rev players will like this for the easy length it creates, but also for the recovery it delivers downlane. Always use the Powerhouse Blurpint Program for fine tuning. #bowlitforward

LANE CONDITION

Length:  Medium, WTBA Athens

Volume: 24.6

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  WTBA Sport

COMMENTS

Likes:  WOW this ball compliments my PIVOT extremely well!  I currently have two of these drilled, basic drillings on pin above the ring fingers and one pin below and will certainly be bringing these balls with me wherever I go.

I am a straighter, higher speed, low rev rate player so I tend to need something that will not only get through the front part of the lane clean but also restore enough energy to recover strong in the backend.

I usually start with my pin down to give me more of a smooth even roll through the pins, but once that starts to pick up too early I can slowly inch my feet left and go to my pin up Pivot Point that allows me to open up the lane.

A+++

The Pivot Point is one of the strongest balls at the breakpoint Ebonite has ever made.  You can get deep inside and throw it out and it will coming roaring back.  It is a definite compliment to their line.  As the lanes breakdown and you have to move in and throw it out, you will have no problem throwing it out and wondering if it will come back.  I wouldn't miss this ball if I were you.
On top of that, support what Ebonite believes in...Fold of Honor

LANE CONDITION

Length: 38 foot THS and 43 foot Dead Man's Curve

Volume: moderate volume

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS and Sport

BALL REACTION

Length: Pivot Point is much cleaner through the front/applied oil. Probably need
a bit of surface for the pattern that I have played on so far.

Back End: Backend is crisp and very similar to the Pivot.

Overall Hook: Overall hook is large, but just like many other balls it depends on the ball surface finish/lane condition/bowler's ball speed matching up.

Midlane Read: Pivot Point has a defined motion in the midlane.

Breakpoint Shape: Strong banana to hockey stick shape breakpoint.

COMMENTS

Likes:  Ebonite is contributing $5 per ball from the Pivot Point sales to the
Folds of Honor Foundation. This is a wonderful cause and the Pivot Point is a
very good looking ball with performance characteristics to match the looks.  The Pivot Point does make a clean path through the applied oil and
should be versatile with tweaks of the surface finish for individuals that are
more speed dominant. Pivot Point rolled a bit more aggressively in the midlane
and backend after adding the balance hole, but still maintained the clean path
up front. Some minor surface adjustments are likely needed for me to maximize
the potential of this ball in this particular center. Overall, I say that anyone
who has had success with the Legacy or Source and wants a bit cleaner path
through the front part of the lane than the Pivot should definitely go for it
with the Pivot Point.

Dislikes: None so far from the ball, the center that I do most of my bowling
has significant topography issues and is usually stripped very aggressively. This
usually has an adverse effect on asymmetric balls having a consistent read with out of the box surface in comparison to other centers.

Bowler's Specs:
Weight:  16 lbs
Core:  CB-2 Aysmmetric
Coverstock:  RCP Max

Axis:  5 5/8” by 1” up
Ball Layout  5” pin up with a 60 degree MB
Extra Hole:  5 inches on VAL (small)
Rev Rate:  300

Ball Reaction
Length:  Ball is very clean through the front end.
Midlane:  Reads the body of the lane (midlane)
Breakpoint:  STRONG backend with continuous direction change
Environments to Use:  Medium to Heavy Oil, League and Sport Patterns

Comments:
The Pivot Point is the newest high performance ball from Ebonite.  Its sister ball, the Pivot has been a very successful ball for me especially in heavier oil and higher volume environments.  At times the Pivot is too strong for the surface and/or the environment.  The Pivot Point is the perfect companion to the Pivot.  This is one of the rare balls that is factory polished but yet has strong ball motion in higher volumes and longer patterns.  When the Pivot is too early, the Pivot Point is very clean and reads the body of the lane (midlane) but yet still maintains the angular shape at the back of the lane.   It is a great transition ball to the Pivot.
The first event I used the Pivot Point in was a local scratch event.  For the 8 game block, I set the 8 game record averaging 267 with the Pivot Point.  The surface was HPL and the volume was medium to medium high.
Ebonite’s ball lineup currently is the best I have seen in many years.  The Pivot Point is one of those rare balls that’s hard to keep in your bag.  This is a tremendous ball!

Length:37-41 feet

LANE CONDITION

Length:  Multiple

Volume: Varies

COMMENTS

Drilling: I drilled my Pivot Point Pin above Middle with the CG and MB stacked in a line and left box finish on it.
Likes: For being a strong ball I find myself using is more on shorter and drier patterns.

Dislikes: Me and this ball did not match up particularly well, I think this ball is just too strong for me and with my higher speed with medium revs, I can’t get it the make the move down lane I have seen from others with this ball. If you are a slower ball speed and with any kind of rev rate you will see a ton of back end from this ball.

Pivot Point

Hello everyone,

Now that we're settled in a little bit in Reno, I've had some time to throw the Pivot Point on a few different conditions.

Obviously, it was released to complement the Pivot, which I think it does well. The solid-to pearl-transition is logical and easy for even beginning bowlers to understand.

I can use the Pivot and it's 1,500 Abranet teeth when the lanes are fresh, but as the ball starts to hook early, or labor on the backend, the Pivot Point is the next logical choice.

I have mine drilled 60 x 4.5 x 30, which is close, but a little different than I had the Source earlier in the year. The Source was a little unpredictable and gave me some over/under reactions, even with surface changes, but I have not seen those issues with the Pivot Point.

The Pivot Point gets a decent amount of length but makes a good move when it hits the friction. I can either stay in the same spot I was playing with the Pivot and capitalize on the energy that gets saved for down the lane, or I can move right and bank it off the hook spot.

It definitely allows me to open the lane up a little bit more than the Pivot, which tends to serve me better when I want to play straighter.

Comparatively, I'd say that in my arsenal, the Pivot Point is longer and more angular than the Innovate, which I still really love. If I really want to go right to left and see a smoother shape, the Innovate is the choice. If I'm just battling some transition or drier conditions, the Pivot Point is the right choice.

Aside from some success on a few different medium/light house conditions (at box finish), I also found the Pivot Point to be helpful at the Storm Bowlers Journal Championships at the NBS in Reno.

The BJ is contested on the doubles/singles pattern from the Open Championships. It is 40 feet with plenty of friction. When I started to get the early hook/backend fade with the Pivot and Challenge, or dive through the face after an adjustment, I used the Pivot Point. It got through the front of the lane better, and by that time, the backends had calmed down a little, so it didn't over-hook. I'll definitely plan to try it earlier in the set next time.

And for the record, the first perfect game of the 2014 Open Championships was bowled in singles with the Pivot Point!
